Long one incoming...
1st
Installed the GT3 Lip TheChunkNorris sent me. So...turns out installing a GT3 lip on a stock .2 bumper is easy peasy. Thanks a bunch Joel for sending it to me - I never would have spent the money without knowing if I could get it to fit, now I know - Thank You !!!
So, putting it on... Line it up in roughly the spot you want it
Drill holes through the lip into the bumper big enough to fit M6 bolts. Drill a hole, install bolt through it, washer and nut from the other side. The forward most nuts are a little tough as you have to get them between the bumper base and the short overhang on the inside of the bumper. Super glue the nut to the washer, slide it in the small recess and feel around for the bolt.
Thats it... If I did not have to go the get the hardware...1/2 hour job if the bumper is off - Mind you, I am pretty paranoid about bolting stuff to the outside of the car that will bear an aero load as my car sees triple digit speeds very regularly... I am confident... This thing aint going no where.
Next
As I had the bumper off, I figured I would clearance the front fender liners a bit and also add some slots to allow air coming out of the rads to escape... It's kind of ugly, it may, or may not work... we'll see if it makes any difference. I feel better the air has some place to go and hopefully my front tires will have a little more breathing room at full steering lock.
Next, Next
Put that stuff back on the car and moved on to the pad swap. Nothing remarkable here. Off with HP+ and on with DTC60.
Front - old, I think 5 track days on the left.
Rear - same deal as front except, old on the right
Last, and least. I finally drained out my UAOS accumulator...accumulator. Here's how much oil it caught in 2 HRS of track time and 1 HR street driving.

Just got back - it was hot and I am tired.
So much fun with Brad and Jack today, the 996 Gang represented well, like real well.
Ran a 1:53.07 - Took 3 seconds off my best from couple weeks ago !
Be back after couple cold ones and shower with best lap of the day video.

You can make pretty nice cards for the doors out of 1/16 FRP sheet and a trip to a decent fabric store.
The FRP cuts fine with a pair of good aircraft snips and you can use "3M spray Trim adhesive to glue the fabric
To the plastic panels, they will weigh maybe 3 lbs with a nice dense thin fabric.
Best thing is a 4x8 sheet of FRP isn't very expensive, and basic semi velour black upholstery fabric is fairly cheap as well.
Been a while but last set I did for a bug I was in to them for about 40 bucks.. With a darn close replica of a alcantera fabric.
I made door pulls with some thin bright yellow nylon webbing from REI, Lady at a near by dry-cleaner that does repairs stitched the ends of the webbing for me,, little fiddling and a couple bits from a hardware store and I had the pulls working off the factory latches.
Good Luck.

Back from 3 sessions at Thompson - progress ! knocked 2 seconds off my previous best and put up a 1:22.6 - goal was to dip below 1:23 so I'm happy.
Had a great time with Aaron, so nice to be at the track with buds.
The not so good - I am really doing my best to hurt the motor. End of the day as I pulled off track the coolant light started blinking.
I filled the reserve canister and it backed up to the UAOS... Over 3 sessions of track time, I had just under 3/4 QT of blow by - Yes, you read that right. I don't know why this keeps happening at Thompson to such a drastic extent over Palmer... but it does. So, in addition to the oil pressure problems I'm having, I was basically running the last session 3/4 of a QT down on oil. I should have checked it, but I didn't...
Anyway - I'll be putting a video of the best lap of the day up shortly...

Car started making a noise under cornering loads during the last session - I did not notice it in the car real time but later under video review. She's going to need a good look over before we go back on track (hopefully) on the 24th...
That all said, I am really happy with my time and how easy the car is to drive - I passed everything out there to pass and a lot of really expensive and fast cars had the Porsche badge and funny headlights harassing their rear views. Unfortunately my happiness is slightly overshadowed by my growing concern that at the rate I'm going - I won't have a lot more days like this left in the mill. Not trying to be dramatic - But I do try to be open and honest with the folks that enjoy following the build / car / exploits and that's what's going through my head at the moment.

Your GoPro hard mounted can pick up and amplify sounds that are not audible directly. I'll listen again for the sound later.
Trust me on this, if the engine was about to come apart you would hear it loud and clear. So i"m thinking you are OK for now.
It would be really great to do something about the oil temperatures. Cutting that back to 220-225-230 would help quite a bit.
