Nice... I actually needed a 3/8 hose to go to my catch can.... but I managed to squeeze by with the 1/4 as I did not want to risk modifying another drain plug with another fitting...

Its a Christmas miracle the one on there now isn't leaking.

So... DIBS on the accumulator fitting for sure. Looks DOPE !

Interested what you're thinking on the oil fill tube mounting. I'm on the fence if I want to go that route or just keep going to the catch can - I's nice to be able to see what's happening and the way I have mine setup - it's really easy to empty.

It's a special rubber seal that works like a "rivet", you drill a .500 hole in the oil fill tube. insert the seal, then push in the metal nipple and the seal flairs out on the inside to form a 145psi air tight seal. Will route hose behind the alternator to keep away from belt ( fire)..Will probably make a kit out of it for the website and include a new oil fill tube pre-fitted with the seal/nipple.

Sounds awesome Skip - like properly engineered...

Thanks for working solutions that are robust and carefully thought out.

Yeah dj.... gotta do a leakdown.

Bedded brakes, sitting at a spot waiting for them to cool. Love the smell of brakes in the AM 🙂

My current view... I love this car.

Lip and car look fantastic. I gotta say. The 996 continues to get better looking with age. Glad to see its aging so damn well. And most importantly, the headlights look freaking good. It's a shame the media and blog bobble heads dont possess the ability of independent thought.

Thanks Glenn - people respond to it... gets a lot of thumbs ups and waves on the road.

For as track focused as it is, it is still very, very good at fast road driving.

For my track bros... next time you’re cleaning the marbles from the inner wheel - throw some heat reflective tape over the wheel weights. This will prevent the weights adhesive cooking, losing adhesion and tossing the weight.

And while you’re at it... give those bad girls a shine...

That's an awesome idea with the wheel weights! Keep'em coming.

Don't forget to remove the center caps, too, or you'll find they turn into Dali-esque sculptures.

In todays installment of - Do it, its pretty much free

FACT - Chicks dig sweat bands.

FACT - Chicks HATE when the paint in your trunk is ruined

When you're out there shredding laps, it's possible for your brake fluid reservoir to weep... when that weep turns to a drip, and that drip makes its way to some paint... well, you know the sad tale that comes next. Microwave dinners my guys...

Stop that possibility in it's tracks - take a sweatband, or in my case a microfiber zip tied to the reservoir cap and WRAP IT UP. Gentlemen, failure to do so may leave you with an unalterable situation for the rest of your lives.... or until you get it repainted... you know what I mean.

I don't track but I've been doing this since 2010 when California prohibited lead weights. For some reason, the steel versions are more prone to fly off.

Yes, they do. I'm still rocking mine from the '80s BMW Lifestyles collection.
