I spoke to, 2 of who I would regard as the most seasoned builders of these boxes and both said I should have no issue at my targeted power level. Both recommended running a trans cooler and keeping the fluid fresh and as full as I can get it.
The guy I ended up going with for the box rebuild told me in a heavy Italian accent - I’ll only break his box if I drive like a real *******, I told him that as long as it’s drive like an ******* and not behave like one, the box has a fighting chance.

I have been told by both trans and engine builders that the box can comfortably handle 500 crank hp. But like Z said, if u drive like an a-hole......?

The clutch I’m planning to run is rated at 600FT/LBS at the flywheel. Kennedy calls it a stage 2.
The reliability will be interesting, I am hopeful the cooler and the additional fluid it will allow me to run will help maximize the reliability.
The proof will be in the pudding.

Thanks, I'm in early stages of contemplating a future competition build.(most likely 2+ years from now)
What I'm contemplating would be LSx based and would likely utilize a G96.00 transmission.
HP target would possibly be 600hp+.
I wonder whether a G96.50 might be stronger than the G96.0x.

It depends on how you build the G50. I went for 997 GT2 RS mainshaft/1st/2nd/3rd gears and 996 Cup 2nd/3rd/4th syncros. The GT2RS 3rd gear is much wider (handles more torque) and the Cup syncros are much more durable.
However, I spent nearly $30k on the gearbox and the rebuild.
Remember HP doesn't kill transmissions, torque does. The 996 Turbo X50 has 450 ft/lb tq and the G50 handles that OK. Lots of tuned 996 Turbos are running 650+ ft/lb and don't seem to have problems.

The cost of the G50 boxes is prohibitive for me, it is the biggest factor that drove me away from trying to do what @De Jeeper did. Having to foot that kind of bill for a rebuild would be...crippling. At least with the G96 - they are common and can be found used for $3.5K - even if you factor in a rebuild, you're still under $10K. I am leaving options open for the future to go to a sequential or a PDK but it will be good to see how much I can get out of the stock box.
Today was a mess around day. Took the mock up and took the rotating assembly out of it, cleaned it up... a little, at least enough so when I touch it I don't take a handful of grease, oil and dirt away with me - then bolted the heads on.
Then I test fit the motor plate (thank you @De Jeeper )
And then stuck the whole thing in the car, the mounting system is super easy. There will be a lot of modification to the rear cross bar, the one that the latch is on in order to clearance for the accessories, other than that and clearance at the top for the intake manifold, there is a surprising amount of space. I got what I needed from this project for now... plenty more to do.

Not a lot to update as far as build goes, but I have parts rolling in quite frequently... Including maybe the nicest car part I have ever bought.
I'll post some more of the full kit at some point, there's a lot of parts - this stuff was expensive but man the attention to detail and craftsmanship. The kit came with a full packet of install and operating instructions, tips and tricks. All this stuff shipped on exactly the day it was supposed to and came in perfect.
This is really cool - you can see the 2 scavenge sections with the ledge separator in the middle. This scavenge sections feed to the 2 o ringed ports.

Big doings update.
1. I have a room full of parts, prob the most impressive parts stash I have ever had - and still waiting on some key stuff to get here. I have some goodies to show you guys soon though,
2. Went on a Dragon trip @TheChunkNorris organized for those who didn't know. Maybe too much fun hanging with him and @Justin76 - @De Jeeper was my chauffeur for the trip and we road killed the thing - it was sick. Had a real nice heart to heart with @Justin76 on all things Porsche and he really opened my eyes. I am sure he would be happy to have a 1 on 1 with anyone reading this, maybe even a 2 on 1.
As a result of that conversation and to honor the occasion as well as Justin, I decided to name my car - JUSTIN- It deserved a name and now it has one.
3. Say hello to my new (to me) 6.2L, all aluminum, 403HP from the factory, 8 American cylinder engine ! It's got 111K miles and perfect compression. I am thinking it will clean up quite nicely and do the trick. Since I am in the naming mood - I have named it -SKIP- I am hoping one day it can run 13's in the quarter to really do the name justice. Edit to add - I paid $3.5K for the engine and the ECU Double Edit - I sold my stock motor for $10K
One day in the not too distant future, Skip will penetrate Justin from below, slowly, with care, and from that moment on - a new (to me)beast will be unleashed upon the race tracks of the North East - Get ready !

Renegade charges $13,644 for their swap kit with all their options and Chavis is about $300 cheaper, but has what I believe is a better solution.
Are you using one of the above, or are you going to fabricate your own, or do you know of another source of swap kits?

did you toss anything else into that deal or is that really what you got for a used engine? sounds like you found the ultimate idiot if you got 10k for a stock used track engine.
