Yeah, that was awesome. The sound was incredible. I think that is about the only time I remember Jamie flinching!

Yes, I did.

But that was only an afterthought. There's no substitute for a classic punchline (as was delivered by Curly - out of view) in the reference image.

Worth watching, but cut to about 11:10 to get the full effect...

I suspect the IMS might be done for, I don't see a way to get the remains of the bearing out of it.

I suspect you are right. What a mess.

The only way you'll get the rest out is to disassemble the engine completely. Then you may find more surprises...

It looks like the cams weren't locked at TDC and the chain tensioners weren't removed (hence the IMS was being pulled to the side/top) - that's why the flange wouldn't come out of the case... In any event, I think it's fair to say that the IMS would need a thorough check before being re-used

The reason the flange was difficult to remove was due to all the trauma the flange has seen from the IMSB failure.
Tear it down, you'll be cleaning debris from the engine for days.

Hey, does anyone remember when I said there are some cars out there that have been saved before catastrophic failure, and maybe - just possible this might be a way to go?

Well, uh - no. This one is catastrophic. Do over.

Good luck and keep posting.
