What did you do to your 996 today?

It wasn't today, but...I replaced the side-view mirror I busted after a decade plus of backing in and out of the same side of the garage.
Not even worth a DIY - pop the trim piece off, remove the three Torx bolts, and replace your busted mirror with your $50 eBay replacement.
Before and after...

I have 2 996's with the engines completely torn down to the cranks.
One is a 996 cab - my dad wants this car when it's done, the other is my C4 PTS coupe.
I was to "find" a good crankshaft Sunday by tearing down a 3rd engine I had bought a while ago that was "running but smoking." What do you think caused it's demise??? Steel sleeved 3.6- guess the seller didn't know it had been rebuilt. (I bought the engine from a scarp yard).
...My blocks are at the machine shop getting a deep cleaning- I can't clean them up as well as they do and it's cheaper for me to do it that way! I should get the parts back end of this week or next week, start measuring things and making expensive decisions.

I figured it out. I had a bolt loose on the brake shield it scored the rotor a bit. I will order the brake set from rennpart and just do a full changeover. I have a track day in late september anyway!
I freakin did it! (e91 for scale). The a/c went out in the wagon the day before I started on the 986, so I'm glad to have the 986 back on the road for the balance of the week before I tackle the a/c on the e91.

Yep. It was my first German car. Now that the 986 is out of the garage, the e91 can go in.

The Oil Pump is mounted wrong, isn´t it?

That's my plan. There's an upholstery shop near my house that I've spoken to about the work. They seem excited to do it.
The main question is whether I spend the time to track down heated/ventilated 987 seats and have THOSE recovered. I love my heated seats now, but the Texas heat really warrants every possible cooling advantage. The hard part is finding that feature combo. I can do any color since I'm buying material for the recovering work anyway.
I love the way I talk myself into spending money on this car lol

There has been so many 996 scavenge pumps installed wrong that when Porsche designed the m97 heads/scavenge pumps, they slotted one bolt hole in the scavenge pumps and offset one threaded hole in the head so that the scavenge pumps " could not " be installed wrong on the 997's...NOTE !!! the new designed scavenge pump ( 997 part #)can still be installed/retrofitted on the m96 and still be installed wrongly on the m96, but cannot on the m97....
