Kit, no, just bought the sheets and used liquid nails in a tube to glue them to the door. Didn't need to seal up the sides, already pretty good. Today it was almost 100 and it was 72 in there while I was working! Also, the heat function in the winter works great also. Generally, summer I keep it at 80, winter 60. I've had that for 2 years now.

The garage door is already insulated and I'm going to be adding insulation to the ceiling. Doing some searching, the internet recommends 9000-20,000 BTUs for a standard 2 car garage. I'm thinking 12,000ish BTUs should do it but what do I know

I use 12,000 BTUs in my 12x12 shed/auxiliary building/detached office and I can keep temps at 68 in the high heat of the summer. For a full sized 2 car garage 12-15 is where I'd want to shake out in terms of cooling power. The mitsubishi units are super efficient. The daikin mini splits have a good reputation as well.

Do you recall what size unit (BTUs) that quote was for? I'm going to be moving a few miles inland at the end of the summer and it's enough to put me out of range of the ocean breeze I get now so I'm thinking mini split.

Pre-swap. My Graphite Gray console was looking worse for the wear.

Found a black console on the ‘Bay in nice shape.

End product. Swap was easy after watching a few YT videos. I also found some used black door pull covers to pull it together. Now the sea of gray has some nice contrast. Cheers all!

The quote I got was for a 15k btu 1.25 ton for my standard two car garage. The AC guy said the 15k is what they put in most garages and gives you a little overhead to compensate for the general poor insulation of a garage. The quote included adding the pad for the outside unit as well as any electrical that was needed.
Hope that helps!

Always loved the Carrera graphic.. I wonder if the Cabriolet cars ever came with it?
