Unpacked its new Aerokit bumper. If anyone is considering this, my total out of pocket cost with shipping from France to San Diego was $1,844.74. It arrived 7 days after placing the order. Gaudin Porsche, where it's on indefinite backorder was $2,026.84 with shipping. And my own beloved Porsche of San Diego was $2,925.41 with me picking it up at the parts counter.
I received my Napa Gold (made in USA!) oil filter yesterday, to go on my LN spin on adapter I got last week to do the oil change (with the Castrol I bopught last week) as soon as I take the 996 out of winter storage on April 1st!
I'll also be installing two new engine mounts ad my driver's side one in particular is destroyed.
Got the oil changed yesterday on my 99. Oil filter looked great and added magnetic drain plug so will continue with original IMSB. Only 32K miles and car is perfect except water pump beginning to show the slightest of leaks. Maybe new water pump on next oil change if its worse, or earlier if I see any coolant on garage floor. Either way this car is getting everything it needs to live a long life in perfect running condition.
Playing around with my CNC machine and decided to see if I could make Porsche emblems to replace the original ones that fell off my wheel caps awhile ago. I had replaced them with cheap ones but have never really been happy with them. This looks promising. I need to use thinner aluminum though. This was 1/8 inch and is a bit too thick for my taste. The photo doesn't really do it justice. It's very shiny. Now I'm trying to figure out where else I "need" to put these.
That looks awesome even as-is! I'd be down for a set if pricing was reasonable! I have 4 original caps (with the lines) missing two crests, and the two that remain are rough. I'd totally run these!
They left a notice saying "Customer unavailable or business closed".
They've left similar notes at my house when we were home. They're the worst of the delivery services in my opinion. Last month they dropped off a package that wasn't for me. Neither the number nor street were correct, but at least it was the same town. I contacted them and they said they would get back to me in 2-3 business days to schedule a pick-up. After a week without hearing from them, I checked the package and noticed that it had the addressee's phone number on the label. I called and they picked it up. Meanwhile, FedEx delivers to my street 3-4 times a day and a month later they still haven't contacted me about the package.

I'm still experimenting. I'm thinking of painting the aluminum with the body color first and then doing the engraving. I haven't considered doing these to sell as this is strictly a retirement hobby. I might do a set or two for cost in the future as I'm not interested in starting a business.
I would agree that FedEx is the worst. I have a guitar shop and 3 years ago I was sending out a $5K guitar a customer had purchased. The driver came in, claimed the label wouldn't scan, called his supervisor who told him to just pick it up and they would "fix it" at the FedEx facility. When we checked tracking it didn't show up so we called. The response was "That tracking number was never picked up or scanned." And despite the driver acknowledging the true situation FedEx refused to pay the claim and I was just SOL on the $5K. I immediately switched to UPS for all our shipping needs which has cost FedEx thousands of dollars in business from me. They suck.

That's messed up on so many levels, not the least of which is the loss of a good guitar. Did you track down the driver and really hammer him on who the manager was that told him to pick it up? Do you have video in the store showing fedex taking your box? This bugs me. Basically theft. Hope you retrieve it someday via serial number if it comes up for sale online.

I think the opposite would be cooler! Engrave, thin layer of body color, let dry and then sand the logo flat. The crest itself would be body color (or black if so preferred). I'd love a set...do keep me informed!
