I replaced the passenger side window regulator. Started late yesterday and finished today. All went well. One weird thing was, while popping the door card clips across the bottom, a small part fell out on the floor. Any guesses as to what this gizmo is?
So apparently there is a $9 latch cover that, if broken or missing, will not allow the back windows to close after the top is up.
How weird is that - and perhaps a dumb question, but how does a super thin plastic piece over the metal latch hook let the microswitch engage?
Ordering said latch cover, hoping it will remedy my inability to raise the rear windows.
Yeah, I've heard the same. Even replaced mine. I didn't have issues with my rear windows, but did have issues with the front latch cycling over and over. Latch cover improved the situation, but hasn't 100% cured it. Before you replace, try taking a tiny bald screwdriver or other thin item and reaching up past the latch and manually operating the microswitch. See if that allows your windows to work. I actually keep on in my console for the once in a while the latch doesn't finish it's cycle.
I will definitely try that - the top is still so tight that I'll need an extra pair of hands to help get it in the correct position while I stick my coffee stirrer into the microswitch!
Yesterday I replaced the ignition switch, which left me stranded after my son's flag football game (boo!). The good news is, with the right tools (including the tiniest flat head I could fine), this isn't a difficult job, just fiddly. I look forward to doing it again in a couple days when I replace the Autozone Duralast ignition switch with one closer to OEM because I don't trust the Duralast one (it didn't work on initial install).
Changed my oil today. Cut open the filter and it looks perfect. About to turn 100K, on the original IMSB.
I'm sure soon the forum will tell you that you're wrong and the IMSB is just lying in wait to explode and ruin your life... Or, it could just work like mine and most all others do. I'm at 93,5xx on my original IMS/RMS/allMS/etcMS.
I didn't know if it was appropriate to start a new thread for this, so here's an awesome video of a 996 rally modded (owner updated the headlights, unfortunately.)
Drove it to work with the sunroof open, loved every second of it, especially ghosting the Toyota Camry "S" trying to race me off the line from a red light... Sigh. Some people never learn.
