Hi. new member here. This is my last mod on my 1999 C2. Carrera lll wheels swap. So far I am happy with the results. Happy new Year to all
Welcome and you car is stunning! Couple of questions:
Q1) Which wheels did you have before? Pics?
Q2) Your headlight lens look perfect, what product did you use (or was it like that when you bought it)?
Thanks. The wheels I had before are the BBS Sport Design 18" ( Porsche 996 option) The headlight lenses were in great shape when I got the car. ( possibly replacement as the car production date is 3/98) I use Plastix ( Meguair) when detailing it. Cheers
So yesterday I cleaned leaves out of my radiators, changed fuel filter ( dated stamped 11/21/97 so it was due lol), air filter, cabin filter, and flushed the coolant( which was very clean no oil mixing) since it was green and probably not the right kind to begin with. And now I have deceit heat. Cleaned my air box, and throttle body it was a slow day at work.
Also it looks like I don’t have an intermix issue the build up of “ mayo” in the filler neck is gone after the trip for Chicago when we picked it up and a few long drives here in Florida gettin it nice and warm.
Water pump.
to do:
low temp thermostat
transmission fluid change
oil filler tube
momo wheel install
front bumper gt3 cup chin spoiler
and contemplating replacement of '08 ML 350 with this...
It's been a while since I explored this topic and installed a double din in a Porsche. Did you modify a single DIN chassis? Porsche sells a double DIN chassis that would be better designed for installing a double DIN head unit in these cars. But when I installed my double din radio, I just modified the existing chassis and used the mounting cage that came with the radio. Once I got it locked into the existing chassis, the radio would slide out like the single DIN type. No need to take all the switches, chassis, and center console bezel off just to get to the back of the radio. The radio's bezel was also large enough to fill the gaps on the center console. I ordered the upper shelf and AC bezel from Porsche and it worked like a charm. It turned out great.
I ended up just screwing the metra mount into the plastic chassis as someone else suggested. There isn't much space for screws but I was able get 3 in each side. I played around with using the DD cage but with the cage and bezel that came with the radio, I'd have a 1/2" gap between the radio bezel and cup holder. Anyway it's all done and apple carplay is better than I'd hoped. Waze on the big screen!!!
My buddy says the telephone doesn't sound great but Siri can understand me well enough to send texts at 70MPH - maybe faster. I put the mic and USB connector in the cubby hole. I drove my car down 95 and recorded my voice on my iphone at different locations, cubby, sunvisor and left side of instruments near the OEM mic. None of them are great. The OEM location is the worst. It's blocked by the steering wheel.
All four wheels Hunter Road force balanced and rotated Saturday, then today had my second free alignment at the Firestone on Culebra/1604. Firestone has a $299 lifetime alignment. I spent many hours calling around town to find one that had the right equipment for my 03 C2. Get this, the technician is Mr. Carrera, yes, his name is really Jack Carrera! (and he loves Porsche's!)
That's a great idea. What equipment did you ask for and were you able to specify settings?
Putting the mic in the A pillar above the sun visor is a good location. I even use mine with the top down in my cab.
That seemed to work about as good as the cubby hole for me when I was testing locations with my iphone. I think it looks better there too but I was getting lazy so I just stuck it in the cubby.
