Do his initials happen to be BC? If so, I know exactly who that is, and have used him many times in the past, just haven't gotten my 911 down to him, as it took me almost 1.5 to get my front end resprayed, it really needed it! I plan to visit him before the Porsche Festival event next month, if he can fit me in...
Are you doing the DE event at MSR in December? Not sure if they're running CW or CCW, prefer the latter.
And yes, these tyres are great so far. I drive our Audi A4 when I'm going long distances or when it's really bad weather, so being able to use this car 98% of the year is fantastic!
Yep, that’s the guy!
If I can get the time to change out my AOS I might do the DE. If not, it will be late December- early January before I‘ll have a chance.
Today I left it for my wife to drive, so I could drive the minivan.
I need the hauling capacity of the minivan for work today.
Wife just texted me she missed a shift and "over revved it."
Of course that doesn't necessarily mean it was over redline.
I'll check it with my Durametric late tonight when I get home.
I guess I need to practice saying, "yes dear, you broke my 911 and now I have to send it to Flat6 to have it repaired" with a straight face and no excitement in my voice.
Actually the hardest part would be the wait...and the POS I'd have to buy to drive in the meantime.
Update: No overrevs. So I guess I‘ll be waiting a little longer to get on Jake‘s list. Looks like I‘ll be retiring before too long. I’d like to get my engine rebuilt once I’m no longer commuting.

Kenwood Double Din install in my 2004 with the Bose MOST. I bought everything from CAI and they were great to deal with. Came with a MOST converter they've had good luck with. I haven't driven it yet but everything seems to be working.
Looks a bit like what I did today yesterday. Had my stereo out to add a USB extension. Now I'll have about 2000 of my favorite songs on call, instead of the 250 or so from my favorite CD.
Oh, and I can leave my LeMans DVD in the slot and still have my music available at any time.
Now I need to find some black paint to cover that annoying white button...

Good to here.
I refuse to teach my wife to drive a stick With the 996) and will never let anyone take my car for a drive...Just to much for me to lose!
The last time I let someone drive my HIPO VW and he ground so many gears, I almost kicked him out of my car!!

I taught my wife to drive a stick decades ago in my 1987 VW Scirocco 16V.
Then she never wanted an automatic again.
Now after 18 year with an automatic, she is just out of practice.
I needed her minivan, so I left her the 996.
After she thought she overrevved it by missing a shift, she brought it home and took the 2006 Ford Mustang.
She has decided she wants a smaller vehicle now.
She said the Porsche and the Mustang are easier to park.
So we may shop for a smaller vehicle once all of our medical bills are taken care of.
Then I might get truck (Raptor?) for a spare vehicle.
Went to flush the gearbox and the magnetic drain plug is totally stripped (and way over-tightened). Fill plug loosened easily enough.
Does anyone have the part number for the magnetic transmission drain plug for a 6-spd manual '99 C2? I found this https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...BoChKYQAvD_BwE, but it seems to only be for 996 turbos and GT3s.
Took a drive Saturday morning. The sunrise was stunning. I had to stop and take a picture, even though I knew traffic would bypass me. The picture was worth it.
Could you PM me the parts list from CAI about this? My radio is starting to become intermittent and since I plan to keep it the next ~2 yrs, I probably need a head unit upgrade...

They might be the same, but a quick phone call to Pelican parts will get you what you need.

Not today...but the last few days..this is what has been going on:
1.- Drained all the coolant
2.- Removed water pump
3.- Removed thermostat
4.- Removed heater core (this entails removing another load of stuff)
5.- Removed the dreaded foam spewing vent flap
...Soon will be:
1. Installing new water pump
2. Installing new thermostat
3. Installing back the flap (after "fixing" it)
4.- Installing new heater core (and then installing all the stuff that had been taken off to get to it)
5.- Refilling the cooling system with new coolant
