So Steve, can I register here that I really really really want a RUF? Kevin's already telling me just to send my garage queen to Dallas so she can be morphed into a Rufinator...

Robert,

Have you SEEN Kevin's car? Immaculate and fabulous. A thrill to park old Rufus next to him. So... hurry and get your beautiful car converted. You already have the wheels, so you are part of the way there. Life is short. Follow your dreams. Oh, Tennessee is actually right around the corner from Dallas, BTW.

Do it, do it, do it. And while you are here in Dallas, I can show you what the "after" is, before your car is converted!

Robert, beware... these guys are the ultimate enablers! RUF is like crack. Once you've taken a hit, well... let's just say it's addicting... ask me how I know! ;-) Btw, Robert, DO IT! Seriously, you won't regret it.

Steve, thanks for the kind words, buddy. I still get a grin when I think of "boost check"!

Holy schneikeys, niche, you're not kidding. I feel the gravitational pull already...PEER PRESSURE!!!

So how long do they need your car and what is the approximate cost? I guess it is all relevant to "what" you have done as it seems there is more than one way to "RUF" a Porsche. But assuming I go with the Turbo R package minus any wheels (already got em) and bumpers (they dont make em anymore), what are we looking at? I honestly have no clue.

I have not seen it but would love to. And yes, Dallas is a ten hour drive or haul depending on which one I would do. Not that far really.

Oh, if I come all that way you BETTER take me for a ride. LOL!!!! Seriously, I have a friend here who has a 993 RUF TT and believe it or not I have never been in it. He has offered but the timing has always been poor. I need to go get a ride from him to compare so I know what we are talking about. Regardless, your car is almost a twin of what I would have with the color so I must see it and go for a ride.

I am also trying to track down Bradford about a set of RUF bumpers since they are no longer available.

I don't know.. Mine was a RUF all its life. However, others here must know.

Any other 993 owners with a RUF conversion done in Dallas? I guess I should ask Kevin.

Robert,

My car was converted in Germany in 2001, so I don't know the cost. (But will ask and PM you the answer.)

Here is a link to what modifications are completed: http://www.racperformance.com/index.aspx?id=993-turbo
The link also included a sweet photo of Kevin's car post conversion.

Robert!!! Do it my man!

Sorry for the delayed response. Just saw your PM and responded.

My conversion was on the pricey end since I had RUF do a full top end and bottom end rebuild. They replaced the clutch, full engine upgrade including pistons, rings, seals, lifters, etc. basically anything that could be replaced was. (what the heck?!) RS motor mounts, brembo's, etc.

Luckily I had a most of the body work done - bumpers, wheels, etc. After I got the car back I did some other cosmetic work including the side mirrors, center exhaust, took out the headlight washers, carbon interior, RUF steering wheel, shift ****, brake lever, etc.

Couldn't be happier. Car is running strong. My only complaint is that I don't drive her enough! I also can't bring myself to ever think about parting with her so that Stradale I want might just have to wait a bit longer ;-)

Keep us posted!

Oh, and the R'listers like Patrick who are near RUF will keep a good eye on her! I got weekly updates!!

Thank you, Steve for the welcome into the Rufaholics club. I want to thank all the other Ruf owners for their kind words and support. I'm just starting to learn about this amazing car. Any more history and insights about the car are appreciated. Javier has been great and i hope he doesn't get tired of my questions.

A Ruf get together would be great. I would also like to meet you, Rufus and the other Ruf owners as well.
