Drove mine today for the first time since 1 August 2017. Will do a separate post listing all the work later. Short story, 3.8 litre, carbon/kevlar bonnet, roof, engine cover and wing, KW V3 and RS spec suspension, stripped out interior, Braid Forged five wheels, OEM ROW bumper covers.

Yes I get the colour choices are a bit polarizing, however, I was sick of blue cars with silver or black wheels.

Thanks, figured it's a love or hate and has already attracted quite a few looks.

Thanks. Probably like the Speedline SL886 with the slightly thicker spokes, however, happy with these too.

Got my first oil analysis --- ~1400 miles and 18 months on Mobil-1 15W-50, with no added oil in between. Looks like I shouldn't have bothered changing oil. Next time I will try 4000 miles and however long that is --- maybe 2 or 3 years. Note the super strong TBN number of 6.8 and plenty of Zinc. I will be happy to NOT have to change oil myself so frequently.....

Yeah I love the 993, have had it since 2001 and now 185k+ on the clock and continue to love this car. But oil changes simply suck! Hate em! So frickin annoying with that 2nd filter location, even the placement of the big filter, ugh!!! But it's done, mess and all! Thanks for letting me vent. I can now go back to loving this work of art

When I'm doing it I think.....it's so awesome the car has a dry sump oiling system with dual filters so I'm just doing an oil change instead of an engine rebuild.

Yeah, I know! It's a big annoyance that lasts only for the duration of the job. Afterwards, post test drive and top-up, it's all smiles again, Short-lived angst, lol!

Fwiw, I've long read about not having to disconnect the oil return pipe. This simply hasn't been the case for me. Regardless of the wrangling, it's got to get unbolted, period; for whatever reason, that little guy ain't fitting through the maze. And frankly, the pipe is not the big deal anyway since it's only one bolt, pops of in a second, and more oil comes out so that's not the hassle. The hassle is that there is a 2nd filter, and the location of the dang thing! And having to remove a wheel and loosen rocker panel and fender liner for the other filter, really?!! And yes, for you initiated folks, you absolutely should use a filter-cap to unscrew/remove ...it's the easiest method.

I know I know, they're the engineers, and I likely sound like a newbie owner on this. They were likely looking at the aging design, knowing it's on its very last production legs, and figuring out the best way to package all the new tech into old infrastructure to eek out another production cycle. Kudos to them for making it happen, yes! But that came at a cost to us who want to do a "simple" oil change, LOL!

Side note: I replaced the fuel pump (that left me stranded and had to flatbed home) a couple of months ago, and at least that was pretty painless (thanks to you RL brethren )! So at least some things are still easy. And I think of how simple the oil change is on my SC ...fast and clean. And don't get me started on the wife's e350: filter on top of the engine, vacuum pump from the dipstick, no need to raise it and not a drop of oil anywhere, and a scant single shop towel used! I can celebrate this, but admittedly haven't had to do any real work on it yet so I'll just shut up here.

Oh, and thanks for the amazon hint ...I'll look up that green "funnel" thingie as it looks super useful! Venting complete. Now back to the love fest of these mechanical wundercars! I mean at 185k miles, tracked and DDriven, strong and smooth as the day I got her, and on the whole feels like it's been machined out of a single billet, who's really going to complain? Enjoy, all!!!

Really helpful information, thank you. Curious, how much does the oil analysis cost? Turnaround time?

Added missing front half wheel liner. Just got the car and was missing. Easy job after wrangling the plastic to fit and line up lol

Default Went for a sunny twisty hills drive

I took my 95 cab with the top down for a fun sunny twisty hills drive bc we finally got a sunny day here in the Portland Oregon area. Porsche Beaverton repaired my driver's side leaking valve cover gasket and sticking clutch pedal and everything is working great! The loaner 2023 Macan they gave me during my 993 repair was fun to drive and performed nicely in the rain but I definately prefer driving my 993 on a sunny day with the top down and the open feeling with wind coming through the cabin! I'm hoping for a long warm summer here to take more drives! Cheers to my fellow 993 owners! May your summer be filled with joyful 993 drives!

Sunny day at Langers today Sherwood Oregon (4/25/2023)
