Group Buy for Inventiva Front License Plate Bracket

I can't swipe it from JT993 or crw but I'll take it if they don't respond.

I wonder why the Inventiva plate bracket is not made with riv-nut threads for the plate rather than the square holes for the nylon self tapping thread plug.
I would like a nice, stainless button head Allen machine screw instead of the funky self tapping screw.

I did something very similar to Foxman. I couldn't use the Inventiva plate the way it was designed, however I just mounted it using zipties to the louvers in the front grill, then screwed the plate to the Inventiva. Would have been a lot cheaper to do Foxman's solution!

I'm also interested in seeing BLT's "final solution." I like the look and placement of the pricey Inventiva, but similarly discovered it had been discontinued when searching last Summer. So I went out and spent .97 cents for a strap tie and $4.00 for a license plate bracket, and made my own for the same location. I think the plate looks much better down low vs. sitting up high on the bumper. And if you're willing to cut your plate down a bit, check out Curvelover's custom front plate.

Use stainless steel wing screws to secure

Smart idea: a standard Foxman production: helpful, well-photographed, & - especially with this - brilliant in execution & price
Jim-- In my case, no cutting plate down. Likewise for RLer jo-hans' solution.
From Hans' recent "front license plate install" thread:
I am thinking the tow hook design takes away from the clean look on the nose.
The plate needs to be the way Mike J. went.
I am not sure how he did the install.
In 2009 I researched & reprinted what I found of Mike J's, then went with a version that didn't cut the plate or the grill.
If it helps anyone else, from the "No front plate-pulled over" thread:
it's one of the best looks. Downside it requires you to trim the plate.
I wonder if the local popo (or WaSPs) might find it objectionable to actually cut my plate.
Brian-- You can install without cutting, like tommyg & me, etc.
More details from XavierLaFlamme (Michael)'s thread, where he was discussing his front license plate holder:
trying to work out what i think of the off center tags!
It keeps drooping. It is kind of ugly. Not the most elegant solution for sure.I tried riding without the front plate and got a $60 ticket!
With your turbo bumper, tuck the plate into your grill.
+1 ^^ May prevent drooping & police tickets...

Good to see what MagDaddy, JPP, etc., have since done with Mike J's idea.
The following's from Mike J's "Sold the Targa" thread:
Jäger...
What, if any, modification was necessary to affix front license plate on the grill of the euro bumper on your speedster?
Looking to do the same. Thanks
Nod of appreciation goes to Mike J for pcarworkshop.com.
Besides his web site, Mike's been an inspiration in another area critical for those of us making an effort to be legal...
My state requires a front plate, so I've studied Mike J's repeatedly.
Instead of cutting edges, I folded, then covered with clearbra.
Regarding air flow, no negative aspect, IMHO. IIRC, neither oil cooler nor A/C compressor are impacted in the center.
Thanks for an attractive option, Mike!

I like the way the 'infamous' 993 Speedster has its plate mounted.
Shouldn't cause any issues - just fabricate a couple of brackets to attach to the lower grill a make sure the plate is at 90 degrees to the ground.

Easiest to recognize by a new RLer with a forgettable screen name that looks like it was randomly generated by a computer & a post that doesn't make much more sense, since it's snatched from earlier pages & doesn't add content to discussion.
I've read the reasoning behind those spam posts has nothing to do with the "cut & pasted" text but a sneaky image 1 pixel by 1 pixel added after the words. That pixel usually allows the website that hosts the image to record IP addresses of all of us that click on the thread. (Sometimes IP address can even be correlated with a physical address & general computer set-up info.)
Potentially nefarious. Good if RL owner IB can prevent them before we ever see them.
The upside: after posts are reported, mods usually remove them promptly.

Yep, bots in action.
I'd be in for one too. I emailed Jeff a while back and he seemed potentially willing to make a run of the plates as a group buy. His concern was he wasn't sure if folks realized that as part of the install you need to drill 2 small holes in your bumper. The holes are in a position you would likely never notice even with the plate removed, but, they are there.
