15-lbs of Carrera Desk Clock...
I just finished and shipped a clock that I made for flyingchappy (Greg). This clock is very similar to one I completed last year and shipped to the UK. While the first aluminum-block clock I made weighed 10 lbs, this one came in at around 15 lbs.
Greg liked the "engine-turned" finish I created on the first one, so once the block was bored, drilled and otherwise sized, I set about making this pattern again. As with the UK clock, I once again used a Cratex abrasive 'stick' and carefully measured each row as I went. The process itself took at least three hours...
After the front of the block was done, I taped it off and gave the rest a random grinder-swirl pattern. The logo was applied using decals, masking, and my bead blaster. I gave everything a thorough cleaning, and then applied three coats of SprayMax 2K urethane clear, a unique 2-part aerosol clear coat that cures hard as nails.
I'll add links after the pics showing other clock designs that I've made over the last 5 - 6 years.

Beautiful work Andreas! Thanks for putting all of the effort into creating a one of a kind work of art for me. It'll be a pleasure to admire this for years to come. 
PS My wife was asking me why I was fiddling around with a broken clock from my car a couple of weeks ago. My answer was that this simple clock, once it works of course, will once again become an integral part of a functional thing of beauty. She smirked and then asked when I was putting the garbage out. There are only a rare few I found that can admire the attention to detail that goes into to the beauty of an engineering design. Serenity now, serenity now.

Looking at your pictures the process of making it must have been as gratifying as the finished product. Makes me want to go out to my workshop and make something!
