The Carrera Desk Clock - Round 2?
As some of you may have noticed, I really enjoyed this project , and am now at the point of deciding whether or not to fashion a new batch.
I have received many PMs and emails asking for a clock, and each time I've stated that I will need around 20 committed buyers in order to start this again.
So, I'm leaning towards another run of these. In order for the numbers to work, I will need to charge $200. This will include proper packaging and shipping within the US. The clocks will look identical to the initial batch, with a slight change to the rear cover. As with the first round, each clock will have a serial number.
Please respond here or in private if you would like to participate. I will limit this run to 25 clocks and envision a two-month turn around. Since this is a hobby of sorts, I need to find time between work and family commitments. I would use the same sources for the wood blanks and the electrical items. The challenge will be finding a more reliable source for clean & functional 964/993 clocks. I used one of the lesser-known Porsche dismantlers last time and received clocks that were not quite as described. Thankfully I was able to have each clock gone over by North Hollywood Speedometer.

Freddy & John,
You are on The List.
Fill,
Unless it was a one-off piece, covering these with leather would simply be too time consuming. It would certainly look nice though.
Have any contacts?
I've seen a few converted clocks on Ebay that use a standard battery mechanism. I'd rather not pay what I do for the clocks and then gut the insides in order to rig up a battery-powered movement. It would certainly make the clocks more portable, but I like the idea that the clocks continue to function as they did in the dashboard.

You’re on The List.
Macca,
If I can get the correct adaptor, I’ll make one.
Rob 97 993C2,
This can certainly be done once clock mechanisms are shipped off to be refurbished. This would add whatever the speedo shop charges.
sfl993t4,
Finding the leather would be fairly easy. But cutting/sewing/gluing is simply not in the cards for me. If you knew of a good upholstery shop where you live, I would gladly send an unassembled clock to you in order for you to have it covered first.
