Default Fan clock - bound for Oregon

I completed another one-off 993 fan clock tonight. As with the others I've made, the fan was stripped to bare magnesium and then coated with Dupli-Color self-etching primer, silver paint, and clear coat. The base was finished in a low-gloss black.

This clock is on its way to '944/951guy' - I hope it gives you many years of enjoyment!

Here are a few pics of the finished piece:

Nice bright red 90 degree arrow magnet tool thingy. Kind of reminds you where to weld, n'est pas? Ever weld it to the base? =0

Your threads are similar to me to all the ones about Darin's exhausts. I love the work and it just makes me want to spend money. Since I don't have a 993 now, Darin's aren't practical as a garage full of parts doesn't bring enjoyment, but I'd love one of these as well.

AOW:

Curious, what are you using to strip the fan down to bare magnesium?

Not speaking for AOW, but I would guess Aircraft Stripper from the pics.

Not yet, but it's certainly possible.

Jasco Premium stripper.

Tried at least four different kinds, and the above mentioned works the best. Certainly not fun.

Aircraft Stripper should be used in a well vented area and gloves are a must. I used this when I stripped my hood down to bare metal. Best stripper out there.

Actually, I close my shop door, and then drape a dropcloth over myself as I work - without gloves. I clench a flashlight in my teeth to illuminate the work area.
