Let's just hope this guy doesn't show up with a N/A GT3 RS car, at close to 400 HP, and about 2,500 lbs., this is one fast 996! Of course when you see the car up on the rack the motor looks like a water cooled version of the 964/993 car.

The '03 versions have 435hp and that is in a restricted format. Without restrictors probably very close to 500hp. I think that car would be equivalent to bringing a gun to a wrestling match...

Greg,
I'm sure you are right about the RSs. I'm just getting into club racing so I haven't seen the whole crowd yet. I just have a chip on my shoulder from having my doors blown off by a C class 993 Turbo at a DE at Brainard a couple of weeks ago.

Since it's in your neighborhood, are you going to be at Putman in June? We could get together and make disparaging remarks about each others cars.

I just emailed Shannon at Thunderhill and awaiting details and costs of this enduro(4-6 hrs) and for what it's worth this hasn't gotten into a media circus but oh well that's what I get for posting here. In honesty to all others- this enduro challenge is between Radical Racer and myself so other then getting a crew set up that's the only party invited to the track. As you can see I know you have the crew set up which I will do the same. Regards. Mike

Jim,
I will be at Putnam in June, sounds like a great plan. I know what you mean about those 993TT's, I think it is the top car in class if it is driven well. I think there was one at Mid Ohio from your neck of the woods that won in C class (wonder if it was the same car? Berard in a black TT). He didn't qualify on pole but passed a half dozen cars at the start

At Road Atlanta there were 4 993RS's out of 7 cars in class.

My main worry with the 996 is the temps and the possibility of antifreeze on the track. June at Putnam can be a scorcher, last year was in the 90's with track temps around 120+.

Mr 996FLT6:

Your making this sound like some sort of 6th grader afterschool fist-fight. Give us a break !

Media circus ??? Do we already have "Speed Channel" lined up and Pepsi as a the sponsor of this "enduro"? Wow, think of the revenues ! We could even have JimBob b der annoycer und al dat der...

Ease up. Take your best shot at us and let anyone who wants to make the trek up there, enjoy the spectical !

Greg,
Yep. That's the TT. Bill drives the wheels off that car.

Assuming I make it to Putman, I'll try an keep my water in the car. The good news is you should be far enough ahead that you won't see much of me. It will be my first race and my first time at Putman.

Hope to see you there.
Jim

Jim,
I should be there on Friday for the DE day and would be glad to give you a ride or ride with you to help you learn the track. It is fairly easy to learn but I will let you in on a few secrets. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> It is a great track for your first race as it has lots of run off.

one question? can the 996 have the traction control systems on? If it can I say screw the hole thing... Why? because it doesnt allow the true car to show through.

mark, this is fun. i will be there to cheer you on despite the fact that my car has that "extraneous" water pump ;o)

FLT996, you probably don't know who radical racer is. i wouldn't race him even if i had a mclaren F1 at my disposal and 10 laps of head start ;o)

I think this may come down to driver skill. I think the same driver(s) should drive the 993/996 and see how the times compare instead of an enduro format. Just my .02 from Texas...

Mike are you planning to bring a GT3 to run like you stated on another thread?

Which thread was that DJF1? Man would I like to have a GT3 but that wouldn't be fair at all with same driver skills so we're comparing reg 993 vs reg 996. Regards. Mike

Greg,
Thanks for the offer. I will take you up on it. We're about 90% sure that we have enough guys for a truck. See you in a couple of weeks.
Jim
