There were reports going around the paddock that a woman showed up at this past weekend's Road America DE as a novice in a GT-2 turbo.

She had flown in from Boston, and rented it at a exotic rental car place in Chicago.

The story continued that the sales person chuckled and said to her that they normally make customers sign an affadavit that they won't take their cars on a track, but in her case, they wouldn't bother her with that.

Great story, even if it isn't true.

Are we talking stock tires as well? If that's true then the 996 should have no problem with oil delivery. I think both cars will finish and the race will go to driver/pit skill.

Just a side note...

I've talked with Mike several time via email, and I think he's a pretty nice guy. He's all growed up so he doesn't need me to defend him. He can do that at Thill... Sure he drives a 996, but he got the color right (Guards Red).

I don't care who wins, I just want to see a great grudge match. Hell, I'll even crew for Mike... <img border="0" alt="[icon107]" title="" src="graemlins/icon107.gif" />

The current specs of the 996 are disclosed in 996FLT6's sig, and Radical Racer has specified that Mike will be required to use his car. The state of tune of the 993 is as yet undisclosed.

I can see this escalate to an OTC style checkbook flailing, or perhaps beyond. Watch out, here come the paid drivers and leased race motors! I suppose it will be bound by some combination of the competitors' bank balance and ego size.

I am one of the guys Bill ?Black TT? flew past at the start of the mid-ohio club race. I am sure he is a good driver, but that was just pure HP. I managed to qualify in front of him in C, but besides trying to block him at the start there was no way to keep up with the speed of that car. I could gain ground in the back section of the track, only for him to gain it back on the straights again. That car is fast. I thought I was in wrong gear when he went past me.

What kinda car to you have? I will be a Putman too if you make it. Let me know if you need anything. What group are you coming down with?

There is a clutch mounted in the center of each wheel. If I stop quickly from a high speed, the spinners store a lot of energy. When I release the engine clutch, the clutch on the spinners also becomes coupled and I get a 'Quad Trubo' launch effect. I had to do something to make up for the lag and lack of torque in the lower rpm in my 944T.

The brake cooling effect is self explanatory. This explains why these wheels are so popular for big SUVs.

I'm in the process of building a 99 996 into a C class car. My other car is a 98 993 cab. Owning both I really get a kick out of these threads.
