Why would that panel have been replaced if not for a frontal impact? Is there a plausible explanation?

seller was cornered and responded “oversight” “younger technician” are you serious? Doesn’t take a tech to notice the mess inside the frunk.

Complete lie

Yeah, blame it on the young kid, always works. I sincerely hope the reserve is above the $105K already bid. The site should just pull the listing, but of course they won't. Shocked if they actually do remove it.

Pulling the auction hurts consumers. It's not as though the car has zero value. For the right price, it could be a great buy.

the problem here (to me) is the desirability of the 993tt in general. this could raise the price on this one beyond what truly makes sense for a 'driver'. at least the auction scenario will show what multiple parties might be willing to spend on an example like this.

One day ago the seller says it is 100% original paint but this lie was brought to our attention on 10.15....
The seller needs to be banned PERMANANTLY!

don’t be so sure on a site like pcar, I wouldn’t be surprised if they also knew about this damage and didn’t care.
it’s all about “buy the seller” on the other end of the spectrum you have Tarek307 on Instagram going through a c2S he has with an old accident on carfax taking it to a body shop putting on frame machine getting measured , taking inside of fender wells off to inspect and showing all this on his Instagram stories before even offering the car for sale, now that’s full disclosure and transparency. Sight unseen is safe if buying from a trusted transparent seller

Agree. Blamed it on the young tech missing the visual cues. They had documentation. As if they didn't review documentation before posting, and maybe they didn't. But that speaks volumes as well about anything else said.

I think I will place an ad for a “young technician”. It will be listed in the classifieds under “skapegoat wanted”.
This is management 101 at its worst. I’ve had to stand in front of clients before and explain errors. Although it was obvious to all who made the mistake, we always said “we made an error”.
After being brought to their attention, this seller should have said his team that bought the car never lifted the carpet in front (giving them the benefit of the doubt here). Then pull the auction and have the repair reviewed and necessary fixes made. Return it later with full disclosure. Now this could harm his name on that platform.
Wasn’t necessary.
