I installed the plug-and-play IMMO BLOCK in my 993 the other day and thought I'd share a few pics to show where it goes and how easy it is to install. The "BLOCK" takes the place of the gong relay behind the fuel gauge. The pics below are taken through the fuel gauge opening. The first shows what it looks like before installation. The tall thing in front is the gong relay. Pop it out and plug in the IMMO BLOCK. That's it. If you have small hands you can do it all through the fuel gauge opening in a few minutes. If not, the oil temp/pressure guage gives a little more room. I've been going in and out of there so much that I took both out and left them partially pushed in to make things easy. Obviously you'll need to give up the gong to go plug-and play and as mentioned only US/CAN/Saudi cars have the gong. For those that want to keep the gong (and for all RoW cars), the wired version may follow if there's enough interest. Personally I like the gong-delete, but to each his own.
Production plans are moving along nicely. I'll update when I have a clearer picture but so far, early March looks good.
When do we hear the gong? Not sure mine is working.
It sounds if seatbelts aren't buckled when you start the car and when headlights are on and you open the door. I believe it also sounds if the key is in the ignition when you open the door. The contacts in my ignition switch are bad so I can't confirm the latter.
Many owners, previous owners, deliberately remove the gong relay- the reason it's not heard. I like it, as it's kept me from having left the lights on and the key in the ignition a few times. Pick your poison.
