I was fortunate to volunteer my '96 early enough to have the opportunity to beta test. Installed the device on Sunday evening by following the clear instructions. Read closely before starting - I missed a detail and wired the device in backwards, which causes no problems but didn't defeat the immobilizer. Swapped wires and all is well.
I was concerned that the OBD dongle might get in the way, but that hasn't been a problem. The use of a dongle makes it really easy to turn the immobilizer back on by simply unplugging the device.
The hardest thing to get used to is *not* cycling the locks when starting the car in my garage in the morning. Hop in, turn key, drive off. It's lovely that such a small feature can be so satisfying. Kudos to Jay for a nicely thought out solution to something that even the ECU gurus haven't been able to reliably dial out.

Todd at Protomotive programmed mine out when I got the ECU flashed for the supercharger install. Also, mine is a 96 ECU which everyone says can't be programmed - Protomotive can.

That's very cool that a 96 can be flashed. In the olden days the immobilizer was known to return from the dead: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...p-request.html

I REALLY don't want this to be my first post, LOL
.... but, it appears it's obvious "everyone" with a 993 in the 993 forum has a desire for this mod. As a new Rennlist user, my goal is to try to research like crazy about these awesome cars. I realize most everyone here means well (as do I), but posting "interested" is like the accidental company-wide email that everyone keeps "replying to all" on
. Perhaps the OP (with help of a moderator) can create a sticky of the pertinent info?

I was going to post an update soon but since you asked - yes! Shooting for pre-production to be available around 1 Mar.
There's been a major development since last update: the unit is now 100% Plug-and Play: no wiring, no tools - just plug in. It works the same as the beta units, just packaged differently. The product will be called IMMO BLOCK I.
The Plug and Play is only for US/CAN/Saudi vehicles. Don't know how many RoW vehicles use the same Immo, but if there's sufficient demand it will be a simple matter to repackage as a wired variant.
The attached shows the first prototype plug-and-play.

Very cool, Jay. Did you ever think you be making a product for a Porsche??
