Oh OK. Sounds like they are both as crap as each other!

Cheers,

Trevor-UK - I'm not sure if it the same thing but it seems to have the same issues as the US cars. Do you have the little immobilser gizmo?
I have a '96 car. It is unlocked (and disarmed) using a fob, allowing me to start the car immediately with no further fiddling (no gizmo on mine but I know the one you mean) - if I don't start the car within 20 or 30 seconds, the starter circuit is immobilised (all lights will come on with the key but no click, whirr, brumm). When this happens I need to press the unlock on the fob again to re-enable it (for another timed period). This sounds like a similar process the US cars are following? I believe many UK cars were supplied from Porsche with a Hamilton and Palmer alarm system - maybe just a front end to the Driveblock?

Sorry if I missed, but does the new IMMO BLOCK I also have the switch to re-enable immobilizer?
Again, nice job.
Thanks for your interest and question.
Early on it was envisioned a switch would be incorporated to "re-enable" anti-theft protection, but that's no longer necessary. With the Immo Block you get anti-theft protection whenever you lock the car with the FOB - no need to throw a switch, unplug the unit or take any other special action - it's automatic. (This distinguishes it from ECU-based defeats which completely remove anti-theft protection).

Unfortunately UK Immos are different and would not benefit from this product.

Yup, that's it. Mine is a 96 also. This was a feature added to OBD2 cars: 96-98 in the US.

Lot's to do but on track for 1 March availability. Probably a limited pre-production run offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
MSRP? Waiting on quotes from suppliers but barring a major surprise it should be significantly less an ECU-based defeat. Hopefully the price and easy DIY will make this attractive to a wide audience.

Wow, nice one again Jay - thanks for your efforts. I'll be watching for release date.

Does this mean using the physical key to lock and unlock the car keeps the anti-theft off?

Does the anti-theft switch off if you unlock with the fob? (And so then can be started any time, even if left unlocked for longer than typical re-arming of the anti-theft?)

This sounds great, regardless! Looking forward to the release.

Exactly. The Immo has two OEM modes of operation "manual immobilization" and "passive immobilization". Manual immobilization is when you arm the system with the FOB (a good thing). Passive immobilization is when it arms itself (a PITA). Good cholesterol/bad cholesterol. The Immo Block stops passive immobilization but allows full protection when you need it. Best of both worlds.
