Project Limoncella - Restoring 993 into a CUP/RSR 1:1 tribute
#497
no spacers needed for the steering rack.
juha needed spacers for the brake booster.
I use the porsche rs bars with 3 spacers(thick washers) on the wheel carrier to drop link, and 3 spacers on drop link to sway bar.
cobalt is saying if you push the wheel carrier out 30mm using the rsr mounting position but leave the strut top mount in the same position you'll have 9 degrees of negative camber.
in post #77 of the 'going wide' thread linked above bobt993 explains this.
I rotated my camber plates 180 degrees to get the 4 degrees of negative front camber I wanted.

I noticed the top mount has a installing direction, if I recollect correctly with negative caster, but I am not sure.

the plates are just flipped to provide less camber, here's a 1000 words in two pictures
pic posted by oysteinw in some random thread about rennline camber plates
this is how they are installed normally
here's a pic of the same camber plates installed in my car with the suspension mounted in the outer position
and here's some cats waiting for the fishing boats to come back

But as Dr. F. Porsche used to say:
Then I look at those beautiful hips and with only 300 hp it is not functionally justified enlarging them like the RSR, but maybe later with 400+ hp it will... Who knows, not for now.
let's find out
"To be truly aesthetic, truly timeless, any design must be functionally justified"

Patrik,
Yes, so far it was only disassembling, cleaning, considering what to do, acquiring technical info, body rebuild, preparing engine parts for the engine rebuild.
The reassembling process, unlike the disassembling one, will be made on a clean body, I will try not to clogging this thread and RL with photographs, because if I have done 2500 so far, there are at least 5000 left to do, of all the steps in which all the lines, cables, tools, grommets, engine, gearbox, lights, etc. will be reinstalled, I want to document simply every step, of reassembling a 993.
If everything goes as it should, the car should be totally refitted (and fully functional in all its parts) by May 2021.

I am going to go private with my instagram account: maybe I am from another generation, I really appreciate the adult way of sharing interest here on RL, and all the material I am going to share on the Instagram account is not intended to be for everyone...you can be someone totally away from cars, but without a true interest whats the point of giving you something you are not interested in?
so who's interested, can easily ask to follow the page and that's all.
Instagram doesn't put any control over mirroring sites, and this is my answer.

I'm amazed at the progress you've made, can't wait to see this thing get put back together!

I don't blame you, I've gone private with my Instagram account before. I have a philosophy of "don't post anything online you wouldn't want to show or tell the entire world."
I'm amazed at the progress you've made, can't wait to see this thing get put back together!

I'm not interested in numbers, especially if they are without the foundamental quality which to me is true interest, superficial as you might want to be, but still interested.
Going on with an open profile is like giving very good red wine to someone who doesn't realise the difference between beer and wine, but is just looking for the alcool inside.
I'm not interested in numbers, especially if they are without quality.
This kind of mentality will definitely destroy our occidental society, and in the end the most corservative and protective societies will naturally emerge over the social media most developed and based "cultures".
One can be superficial, without being really superficial, as a light way of being, but still with true interest, which is nice, because it can be very relaxing as well.
Leaving it open I feel it to be something very close to a meat grinder, which is not something I want to happen to a projekt, that I think is evident even to blind people, I care a lot.
I am happy this project is giving even more visiblity to the Rennlist forum, to which, for the support and enthusiasm received, I have sincere gratitude.

I've been contacted by a journalist working for the Hagerty Magazine: he asked me a few questions I then saw in the article, that, I must say, is very well written, with the right energy and that touch of originality and adventure that never hurts.
The Instagram account is exploding: I'm pleased, it means that many more people than I could ever imagine are interested in seeing how the project evolves, regardless of whether they are super passionate about cars, or Porsche in particular.
The project goes on as usual, indeed, perhaps now that so many people are watching me, I will have to work on it even harder for obtaining a truly impeccable result!
Lately I haven't been posting much on Rennlist, because the engine is now ready to be rebuilt: I will have to go, by mid-October, covid permitting, up to Germany to pick up some "delicatessen".
In November I should start with the reassembly of the engine (and the installation of the various systems, cables, pipes, etc. etc. on the car).
Frankly, I can't wait to get into action, and I am glad so many people are waiting for it as well, because participation is the basis of this project.

I am looking right now for the steel mounting support for the RSR electric steering pump AND for what is necessary to install the "bubbles" shaped vacuum reservoir introduced with RS and Varioram engines: if there is something necessary to be welded to the body, it is now that the car is all naked the moment to do it.
