992.2 Info

I doubt they would have a $200k+ sports car shut down the engine and operate in FWD only mode for any real driving. There may be a low speed EV only mode that the driver can select like there is on the E ray.

my prior i8 did just that in pure electric mode… just fwd unless you kicked down, ran out of battery or placed in sport (red!) mode. Not a proper sports car with the standard tires though… if they still made one, and upgraded the brakes/tires, may have gotten another instead of the incoming t. Was a lot of fun as a daily driver!

Are folks here really so excited about NA in a GTS that they don't care it's a hybrid? Give me turbos all day instead of a hybrid. I'm clinging on as long as I can. lol
Glad I got a 992.1 GTS, but I really hope the 992.2 GT3 isn't going hybrid. Please no!

It's going to be a mild hybrid....not a Prius. The only thing you'll notice is the start/stop functioning more smoothly. I would be more worried about long-term reliability than it being a mild hybrid.

You also assume what I'm worried about or not. I never mentioned my specific gripes with it being a hybrid.

If it is naturally aspirated, It is going to have to be more than a mild hybrid to maintain current power and performance levels. Look at the massive difference in 0-60 times between the 991.1 and 991.2 models, a naturally aspirated 3.6 with a tiny battery/motor is not going to replace the loss of turbos.

Not sure why people are that bothered about a mild hybrid when it will simply enhance the driving experience. Haven’t seen anyone complain about the holy trinity employing hybrid technology.
…. and why would you prefer turbo over NA (with hybrid) if the performance is comparable. Turbo is just lazy power.

The problem is that it's not a natural evolution of the engine design. It's forced due to regulations. One can argue that hybridization is the future no matter what, although electric motors are older tech than ICE, but I digress. At this point, there isn't any time to innovate anymore because of deadlines to comply with regulations, and hybridization seems to be the only answer. So, yeah. I'm against it because it's not a design decision to go hybrid.
