I think that from these pictures the rear light bar looks better on the .2
I have to see the Padola ledge under the light strip in person to form a better opinion.

Did you notice the black plastic shelf above the rear light?

It is 510bhp and hybrid so I I am not sure how much difference there would be price wise to the GTS.

With the 992.1 if you specced many options for the S and these included sports design and sports exhaust the S was very close in price to the GTS.

I am trying to confirm again the specs of the S and I really hope my initial info is wrong regarding the hybrid part but unfortunately this is probably just hope since the info is quite solid.

But the problem is that most haters are the RL members which does not matter.

I am speculating but I think the reviews will he great based on the fact that the car is faster and the technology is the “future” and is state of the art.

And even then I think most customers might not even be reading the reviews.

Then you have the price but then again the demand for the turbo s was still high so does it matter that much?

We will see but I think in general people will still want to buy a 911 and it will still be their dream car.

Agree. Even with GTS prices topping $200K, what other car is available for similar money that is as refined and fun as a 911? There are certainly competing models, but is there any alternatives that one could argue is truly better?

The Artura is considerably better, and reasonably spec’s $100K more. The 296 similarly is $200K more.

so, no, I don’t expect competitors in the same price class to fare well

One main difference imho is that those 2 cars do not compare to a 911 for daily driving. Maybe for reliability as well when used daily.

This is the main difference even though they might be better sports cars with better cars.

It's really hard to daily a Mclaren Super Series car (i.e. 720s, 765LT, etc.)

And I say this as someone how has daily'd a 991 GT3, 991.2 GT3 RS.

Between the carbon tub with its high sill making egress/ingress a near substitute for your daily yoga session, to the dihedral doors, to the lack of a storage (no back seats, or even a back seat area) any Super Series Mclaren is not an ideal daily.

Artura might be different, haven't had a chance to daily one, though.

A 296, one can absolutely daily, but then it's easily 2x the price of a 992.2 911 (of any trim level)

The base Carrera now has larger brakes, the turbos from the 992.1 GTS, and the intercooler from the 992.1 Turbo. The new 992.2 base Carrera should be as tunable as the old 992.1 S car, probably close to 600hp. The Carrera 4 has the added benefit of the limited slip differential (LSP) for the rear wheels and AWD to better put down the high power, pull through corners, and drive in icy / snowy conditions. It will still not have the manual available though.

The new Carrera T (RWD only) would seem like it might be a better opinion still, but it has limited interior options and they removed some of the sound deadening.

The new Carrera S / 4S might still be the best choice, we will have to wait and see what they come out with.

The new Carrera GTS is very expensive now, has many undesirable (IMO) options like PDCC as standard, removed sound deading, making everything black, harsher ride, standard sports exhaust, and center lock wheels.

The rumored new RWD Turbo manual sounds very interesting, but it also sounds like it will be something that is in high demand and will difficult to get. Also since it is a Turbo it will be expensive. Still it might end up being the best choice. I really hope it will look good, I don't care for the active aero vents on the GTS.
Do you have info in regards to when the base Targa 4 will be released?
Thx

Folks that will top 200K configuring a 992.2 GTS, will likely be there with a 992.1 as well. I spec’d a 992.2 as close as I could to my 992.1, and I ended up around $7K over ($181.5K vs $174.5K). And, I get additional equipment that I did not spec on my .1, such as RWS and ACC. Reason for the lower price difference, are things like alcantara roof liner, A-pillars and sunvisors are now standard, and I paid for that on my .1.
