992.2 Info

From Car and Driver...
"The culprit is Lambda 1—engine designers' shorthand for a perfectly balanced ratio of fuel and air—used at all engine operating points. With no rich mixture available during high boost, combustion temperatures rise to a point where ignition timing must be dramatically retarded to control detonation. The upside is less smog emission at full power."
So, taking the existing twin turbo 3.0 engine and adding the new mandated emissions standards, Porsche needed to add more air (bigger turbos/ higher boost) and colder air (bigger intercoolers) to make the same HP. C&D states that the "upside" is less smog, but they fail to add the engine is being starved of fuel and air. Tuners are already seeing HP numbers above the new 992.2 GTS by simply swapping to GTS turbos and software tweaks to 992.1 base and T models.

I assume the emissions restrictions are largely for the EU market? It'd be nice if they could unleash the tuning for the US market since we don't have that degree of restrictions. I understand tuners will unlock it but it's always nice to not have to worry about warranty

While you are correct, shrimp money isn't complaining about Porsche's efforts per se. If you follow the flow of the replies, he's merely explaining why the base, despite the hardware upgrades, is being handicapped at 388 hp. His analogy is correct.

Explaining, not complaining. He was responding to MacAna’s direct question. We are quick on the trigger to argue and criticize, aren’t we? Chill.

Many dealers won't to ADM (mine included) but they get you in other ways (low ball trade ins, watches, extras, etc.). So technically, it can be true.
