History says as much.

993 to 996 (air to water cooled), 991.1 to 991.2 (NA to FI) and 992.1 to 992.2 (ICE to ?).

Relax, just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Just bec ppl are forced to buy it doesn’t mean it’s better or they will like it.

Porsche has stated many times that 911 will be excluded from any electrification for as long as possible yet its the first to get all hybrid powertrains while MB has a new V8 only AMG GT and SL.

We know it will be faster, weigh more and easier to drive. Most new 911 owners don’t care about anything else.

This reminds me when BMW Motorrad decided to phase out boxer motor, people rebelled and stopped buying BMW and forced re-introduction on 2-pot bikes

The unfortunate fact is that the Chinese market is now the largest driving force behind 911 development, where more 911's are sold than in NA or Europe. Less heft and feel in the gearbox and clutch, slightly more intrusive safety nannies and increasing size of the car. These are the obvious detractors to me. At the end of the day it's dollars and cents for vwag shareholders, sad but true.

Maybe the hideous active aero up front were China design influence as well... Who knows

That actually flipped beginning in Q3 2023. An individual whom recently took the factory tour in Zuffenhausen was informed during the tour that the U.S. market has regained the #1 spot. FYI, China’s economy has been slowing.

I was under the impression that CN is the biggest market for Macan. 911 is mostly US and EU.

yes I do believe that’s correct.
we’ve been taking more and more market share since the beginning of the year, and will get even more in 2024.

That isn't true. The US is the largest market for the 911. The volumes of 911s sold in China is around half of what is sold in the US.

True, 2 years ago China only sold a bit over 9,000 911's compared to 22k Macan and 20k Cayenne. The 718 is just above the Panamera in terms of the bottom of the sales numbers. I've been to China many times and culturally they love big vehicles especially if there is a slight stretch (limousine). Smaller cars are preferred by women in China and men want the large vehicles.

I think at this point what would drive Porsche's decisions regarding the 911 powertrains is the EU's insanity rather than China's.

Yeah, it is driven by EU regulations. If you take the EU in its entirety (vs. breaking out Germany like Porsche does in its official sales figures), then the EU may be the largest 911 market.

More 911's are sold in China than NA or Europe. And that's with a base Carrera 2 starting price of $236,000 USD

@997.1C2S What you show is not for 911's only, yet all Porsche vehicles. (and it does not match what PCNA says)

From Porsche's news website, they say 911 sales in the US will be approximately 11,500 units for 2023;

So much for the supply constraints.

I think the hybrid will be at the high end (like GTS or Turbo) not base or S models and it will obviously be a derivative of the 918 spyder which I would be quite happy it.

Who cares want benz AMG does i don't like any of their cars cos they are so heavy (compared to 911).

People will like it if its done right. 918 spyder was awesome, and it was first mild hybrid. Who wouldnt want one?

Besides that, look at other brands. You can complain but 911 is literally the last supercar that isnt electrified.

Mclaren Artura - electrified
New Lamborghini Huracan - confirmed to be electrified
Lambo Revuelto - electrified
Ferrari 296, Sf90 - both hybrid

most of above ones drive great and pull <7min on nurburgring, so unless Porsche f' it up and makes the battery add 150kg (rather then 50-60kg system like most of above) we should be good. And if they add mild hybrid for extra torque and remove turbos so the engine sounds good as well its gonna sell like hotcakes and 992.1 prices will plummet on secondary market, especially its is now well know 992.2 models are coming with bigger engines.
