Edit: Spike is the one that recently spit out the Q4 timeline. He stated that he could not divulge whom told him. FYI, Spike and Seinfeld, both have Preuninger‘s direct contact info and appear to speak with him more often than not. Lieberman stated that the S and above will have mild hybridization AND… he is also now stating that the .2 GT3s will be mild hybrid too.

If anyone desires to hear this tidbit for themselves it begins at 32 minutes and 32 seconds on the most recent episode of Spike’s Car Radio, “Yams or Fams?” https://open.spotify.com/episode/2RW...REax1PhnV2VJ7w
Lieberman's IG post with the Cayman GTS 4.0 just goes to prove the point of not believing everything you hear. He claims the 4.0 in the GTS 4.0 cars is not the same as the engine in the Spyder/GT4. It very much is. Yes, he's allowed to make mistakes, it was his dismissive response that bothered me ("great story"). As an "automotive journalist", many followers will not question his statements.

Agreed.

If one has been listening to SCR long enough they certainly will begin to realize that Lieberman often misquotes manufacture data. Sure It happens, but it appears to happen fairly often. I am confident that a day or two prior to recording the podcast he has a vague idea of what they are going to be speaking about so why not take the time to do a brief refresher of data instead of talking out his @ss?

Edit: I have nothing against the guy, but as automotive press for a major publication, if he is going to be spouting off what many believe to be factual information then he should be accurately providing such.

Saw a 992.2 cab with no
camouflage, 40km south of Innsbruck. Unfortunately I was driving and couldn’t take a picture of it but I noticed that the front end didn’t show the rather controversial vertical grill but the more subtle double horizontal strips.

The C&D article said that the 992.2 GT3 will have the 48v hybrid system as well.

Remember this thread?
I think original title was "992.2 April 2023 Release".

Can't believe it is already April 2024!!!!
I feel that I was a younger man when this thread started in September 2022.

What's interesting to me is the length of generations increasing. 992 is going to be one of the longest generations:
  • 911 (1964–1989)
  • 930 (1975–1989) the turbocharged version
  • 964 (1989–1994)
  • 993 (1995–1998) the last air-cooled 911
  • 996 (1999–2004) all-new body and water-cooled engines
  • 997 (2005–2012)
  • 991 (2012–2019) all-new body
  • 992 (2019–)
We are already seeing some state that their 992.1 orders are now going to be 2025 MY's, so potentially we have a 5.5, maybe 6 year long .1 generation. Assuming the .2 generation is another 3 years on top of that we are looking at an 8.5+ year total 992 run - longest since 930.

Could be increased R&D costs, rising production costs (longer amortization schedules), more demand for profitability in light of the IPO, consumer demand staying hot, less competition driving the need to innovate, complexities/issues of the next generation hybrid powertrain, etc. It's probably a little bit of everything.

I wonder if the impact of Covid is still being felt. Timeline-wise, I wonder if they just haven't been able to build as many cars as they planned. Combined with going public, I expect we're going to see the 992 for a while.

The 991.2 was itself 4 years of that run. We could easily see a 5 year+ 992.2 and I’m okay with that.

I think a lot of it depends on the environmental regulations, how long they can keep selling the .2, because the mild hybrid (in all the basic trim levels) adds very little in terms of metric improvements. Only full hybrids make a dent in it, I think that will be the determining factor in the jump to the 994.

I think that the Covid impact is being felt in that the desirability of 911s increased substantially during that time period leading to the allocation and ADM situation that is only now starting to subside (maybe). Porsche therefore does not need to rush the introduction of the .2 variant to boost sales, so it can address any late issues that cropped up with the hybrid powertrain or it can reallocate resources to support Macan EV production or it can goose its earnings numbers to make sure that its executives get their performance bonuses, instead.

No one knows, even if they claim to
