Default 992.2 April 2024 Release

Nick Murray just made a video claiming the 992.2 is releasing in April 2023. Is this true? I can't find any info on this.
He suggests there will be adjustments to the transmission and a new engine

The great thing about people like him is that you never have to be correct, much like a weatherman. But, you get people to watch you, and you get paid.

I was going to say, if making YouTube videos doesn’t work out for him he has a job waiting for him as an Oklahoma weather forecaster.

911 carrera 991.1 ran from 2011 thro 2015 with 991.2 facelift being introduced in 2015 for the MY2016 release.
If Porsche use a similar timeline then the 992.2 should be revealed at Frankfurt motor show in 2023 and released as the MY2024 model, for late ‘23 delivery at the earliest.
GTS, turbo & gt3 models will follow 2 years or so later, so 992.2 GTS will be seen on the roads in late 2025.

Thats if all goes well and the factory manages to stay open this winter with energy rationing in EU.

The 992.2 will be a rare bird indeed. I’m just counting my blessings that Im fortunate enough to have a Targa 4 GTS scheduled for production in November. The chance of seeing a 992.2 car in my area is very slim. I’ve only seen one 992 base Carrera and never seen a 992 targa in the wild, only at the dealers.

If I were considering ordering today I’d probably be thinking of delaying to get the 992.2 as it makes sense but just getting anything currently is a lottery win to be fair.

New engine? That raises an eyebrow considering the electrification of the brand and VW’s commitment to go all EV.

I’d expect a hybrid before we see a new combustion engine from Porsche.

Maybe a safer statement would be to say a "revised" powertrain.....allows for anything to be possible thus your accurate!

I can’t see Porsche hitting us with a fully hybrid line up all at once. This would have been giving them sleepless nights for years.

I’d expect the first release of the 992.2 range, Carreras, S, Targa, to be all still IC, slightly updated power and facelifted styling as usual.

I’d expect the first hybrid 911’s to be released as a Hybrid Turbo/Turbo S 2 years later with performance to match the Tesla Model S Plaid or similar. The logic being that Turbo buyers are looking for more of a luxury Grand Tourer experience with supercar performance and are less likely to spit the dummy at a hybrid.

Then the full hybrid lineup to come with the next reincarnation, the 995 or whatever they call it.

I think that would be a more gradual introduction of the hybrid 911, less likely to cause a pitchfork revolution and be the course of least resistance for Porsche. Obviously I don’t know any more than the next guy though and could be totally wrong.

I will not take delivery of my TTS in December .I would rather have the 992.2 with the new engine

Doesn't that apply to everybody we watch on the internet and TV?

Who really takes responsibility for anything, or even blatant lies they spread?

Rather, I think Nick and other independent YouTubers are pretty reliable.

Unlike mainstream, they do even correct the mistake they make.

BTW, when can we order 992.2 then? April '23 or sooner?

I have a strong objection against electric motor as a 911's engine, but I have no objection against hybrid.

I have driven Tycan, hated it. It drove almost like an overpowered electric lawnmower.

I also drove Panamera Hybrid, loved it. The torque was insane.

The “Turbo” badged 911s are almost certain to be hybridized at 992.2 release in my opinion.

I think it will either be the whole 911 range or Just the Turbo badged cars that get hybridized. In any case I see it as almost certain that the current 991.1 cars will be the last fully I.C. engined 911s to wear the “Turbo” badge.
