Utter nonsense. It helps with both performance and range. No EV accelerates like a Taycan at highway speed thanks to that transmission. It’s part of the character of the car. Porsche is not using a transmission in the EV Macan due to platform sharing and keeping costs down, but you can expect Porsche to do transmissions in their performance EVs.

conversation getting off center - don't think anyone is expecting an EV 911 anytime soon. agree manual with a pure EV or a PHEV is more complicated.

question is, what does 2024 992.2 look like?
my best estimates:

across the line - digital dash likely, apple CarPlay across the dash?

carrera / s / gts / targa
mild hybrid KERS system across the line, probably maintains manual option, as manual trans with mild hybrid system is known commodity.

turbo/ turbo s
either mild hybrid or plug in hybrid 'sypder' 918 tech. no manual (as in years past). making sport classic all the more special

GT range
mostly unchanged

I agree with the sentiment, reading between the lines of the interviews with the Porsche execs, will have Petrol derivatives, possibly KERS, definitely Hybrid and one day EV. However, which derivative is getting which system is still unknown.

I hope and pray that Carrera S and Targa 4S stay pure petrol... GTS and above can have new fancy / expensive kit that I don't need nor want.

I would guess the Carrera range - base - 4 - S - 4S - GTS - 4 GTS in the three cab configurations would be the first up for hybridization before they move onto the upper trims.

I just saw a picture of the 992.2 dash. Digital. Don’t like it at all as expected. Looks like the Seat digital rev meter. I was hoping for a bit more “design” but no.

Digital Dash and Hybrid… I’m going to hate it until I don’t. It’s the Porsche way.

I like the exhaust setup better than the 992.1, looks more like real tips.

What is it with the Wart-Like growths on the front fenders? Hideous!

A lot of the styling things like those fog lights are fake so you don't actually see what the final design is

They purposely make it ugly so that people wont wait for the face lift to come out thinking they wont like it. Then unmask it after everyone bought their last model and then want to trade in for the new face lifted model. As always no matter what they do with the .2 they will sell every single one of them.

Exactly that. And after the first outcry, everyone will love it again.

my wife calls it ‘acquired taste’
initially it tastes s#¡t, but after a few servings, washed down with your fav beverage, you get to like it.
