2026, new three-row cross-over electric SUV, K1”.

Thank you for sharing the digest of this article. I am wondering if you can tell the refreshed 911 would be a MY23 or MY24 from the article?

The 2023s are already being produced. Expect suspect MY '24 leaks to start soonish. And if past history holds, configurator updated in April showing 2024 and MY change over production starts end of August.

I think nyca’s comment is on point. The issue with a hybrid 911 is weight, I think. All that hybrid equipment added to the power train along with the lithium battery and associated cooling systems is added weight and then what does that do to cornering, agility and driving dynamics. I will keep an open mind until I drive it. But, anyone who wants an ICE sports car with a MT and no GPF might want to get one now.

Sorry I made a mistake. I was about to ask whether it was going to be MY24 or MY25 for 992.2....

Agreed. The article hints that there will be a hybrid version along with non-hybrid versions for the ‘24 992.2’s. Unknown if all Carrera’s go hybrid with GT-cars staying ICE for now. That could be a possibility, imo. Turbo’s going hybrid is pretty much all but confirmed to me.

The 992.2 hybrids seem to be non plug-in hybrids with F1-style KERS. My bet is that the AWD versions will get hybridized as the front drive shaft can be omitted (for weight savings) and instead a small electric motor can be used upfront to fill in the turbos torque gap like in the 296.

…The venerable 911 is still on track for a refresh in late 2023, which could also bring electrification with a hybrid version that should arrive in 2024, inspired by 918 Spyder and 911 GT3 R hybrid technology…

I'm wondering how increased weight is going to be embraced by the 911 faithful. Will it be spun by the pundits as 'even better' ??

Dare I say this but a smaller displacement would help offset weight. I see flat 4 …

is that a typo and should it be GT3 RS (or ST, which is on the way soon)? or really GTS RS with mighty 4.0 ?

I am trying to google anything about "Street Talk Bob Rassa Doug Lloyd" to found it myself, but unsuccessfully. what show is that? TV show? podcast?

Tanks a lot!

Great point, the 919 Hybrid has the lithium ion batteries up front to drive the front wheels while the engine drives the real wheels. Makes sense for the way the 911 is packaged but again, more so for the Turbo. This seems overkill for the Carrera models and I am sure Porsche wants the 992.2 to continue to offer a manual for Carrera models. Not sure how a KERS set up would work with a manual but of course a mild hybrid set up would work.

The 992 is set up for a small electric motor fitted between the crank and trans. The motor will be in line before any splitting of torque between the front and rear. All 992 have this hybrid optionality on them currently, the trans was designed to be hybrid for a reason and installed in every 992 from the very first one off the line. So i ask a few things: Why design the 992 trans to easily integrate hybrid if you have no intention of making is so for 8-10 years.? And why has every single model from base to S to GTS to Turbo been spotted wearing a hybrid sticker? Hmmmmm. I guess we'll have to wait and see!

They will likely split manuals off as an pure-ICE only option since the 7 speed isn't designed to integrate their hybrid solution like the new PDK is.

I feel the same way. There will be a few options to go ICE only...GT cars, Possibly GTS and T. All speculation of course

I bet they will keep the legacy 3.0T mated to the manual, and whatever new 6800 rpm engine will be for the high output cars. I don't think you will be able to switch between hybrid/non hybrid at the same trim level. Someone earlier said Base/T will get manual and S/GTS/Turbo are all PDK hybrid. That makes sense to me
