Credible rumors say it will be the 4L NA unit — at least in the S or GTS models. That’s what I’m waiting for!
Not a fan of the 992 (for many of the reasons you mentioned); loved the 991.2 generation.
A 4L NA 992.2 would be a keeper.

Aside from emissions and Euro 7, a 992.2 with a NA just won't work from a marketing standpoint because it will be slower than the 992.1 911 by any of the oft-cited marketing metrics, e.g., 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc.

It can be faster than the 992.1 if there is a significant power output from the hybrid system…but the costs of going that route would be much higher than the current setup. There was some suspicion Porsche would have to go this way because the initial Euro 7 standard required a large cut in NOX emissions which would be very hard for turbo engines to meet…those regulations were changed in the final rule so that the NOX outputs for gasoline engines remains the same from Euro 6 to 7 (Diesels will have to meet the same standard as Gas cars).
I have no clue about the April 2023 issue of a 992.2. I say that it may be a 2024 model year that will start the fall of 2023. Maybe.
I own a 2023 Porsche 911 Turbo that was built 10/22 as my name came up on an allocation list going back a year before October 2022. I couldn't be happier with the car. No one else can make a better car with the nicer interior. Of course, the exterior finish and performance are superior.
991.1 released fall 2011. 991.2 released late 2015? 2016?
992.2 may not be released till late 2023. Then a Turbo follows that by what, 6 months?
I stand by my statements. I had a 1991.1 in 2014 (nine years ago).
This market is nothing like the market of nine years ago. It seems like nice older cars are doing very well. My above 2014 Porsche 911 was a great car. but got traded off for my ordered 2020 Porsche 911 (the new model). Here with my GT350:

Thanks goodness, it appears there will be ICE and hybrid derivatives.
Based on everything I’ve seen to date (spy shots videos articles etc), I think the entire Carrera and turbo line up is going hybrid 2024. GT cars won’t. Hope someone can prove me wrong.

I remember reading a motor trend article before I purchased my 911 talking about the front track width increase was primarily done to accommodate battery cooling systems and the trans designed to house a motor. That was back in early 2021. Not sure how anyone could think they are not going hybrid at this point. I'm also hopeful to be proven wrong, but the evidence seems to be overwhelming.

I think the whole line-up may have some sort of Mild Hybrid Tech...like Merc has with the M256 Engine and BMW with the B58....beltless motor with a 48v set up. Then there will be some sort of Turbo SE full on hybrid with 919 tech. I doubt Porsche is going put 919 hybrid tech in a base Carrera.
