My question is where does the manual fit in with these new hybrid cars? Relegated to GT cars only?

mild hybrid system could still work with a manual. There’s several cars from other manufacturers that work that way already. My guess is manual and pdk still offered for all the hybrid carreras. If turbo/ spyder is full hybrid (or phev), no manual.

Isn't the current manual based on the old 7 speed PDK? They can't hybridize that.

Maybe they put out a simulated manual like the Toyota concept with capability to row your own or go full auto or paddle shift? That could be interesting.

The old 7 speed PDK/manual doesn't have space in the transmission for the added electric motor. Only the new 8 speed PDK was designed with that in mind.

hmm. Doesn’t sound like an insurmountable problem to me.

Or, maybe no more manuals on the Carreras? Glad I got a 2023 C2S 7mt. But I don’t think they’re ready to kill the MT. Porsche engineers will figure something awesome out.

Not insurmountable but they havent spent money to develop a new manual since the 911R. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they did. Guessing right now I would say manual will be way less available on 992.2, maybe only on one or two trims.

You guys are dreaming. No electric motor can change gears as the EV torque and HP is set for only the EV car.

I understand that you hippies love the electric cars over the current cars.

I like the sound of a flat-six with two big turbo's getting up to power for 450 miles at every gas stop (5 minutes).

I really like my 2023 Porsche 911 Turbo and got on the list for a 2025 Porsche GT3 Touring 4.0L.

I'd never buy an electric car. I'll slum around in my gas cars over your coal generated cars.

Are you joking? The Taycan has a two-speed gearbox and changes gears right now.

I work in industrial controls and, while not common, we do occasionally use multi-speed gearboxes with electric motors. It depends on the torque and speeds requirements for the application.

Most EVs don’t have multi-speed gearboxes because they aren’t needed for the application. Not because they aren’t possible.

That’s just a simulated manual. That’s more likely what we’ll see for “manual” EVs.

the 2 speed trans in the Taycan is trash - also they are ditching it for the Macan ev.
