992 Carrera OBD Flashing

No tune yet, but I’ve done 5 track days and have some data. Temps have been ideal for tracking, but not good for challenging the cooling system.
As you would expect full throttle heats things up, but as soon as throttle is reduced IAT & Charge Air Cooler temps drop off quickly. The magnitude of IAT spikes are a function of the duration of max throttle For the tracks I’ve visited max duration at full throttle is ~9-12 sec, with start speeds from ~58 to 88 mph so good air flow during this time. Also I have the Aerokit which has a unique flow path for the charge air cooler. Open on top with a scoop and exit ports on the sides and back.
The oil and coolant temps seem to be a function of the integrated heat load and thermal balance of the cooling system. It takes a few laps to reach steady state on the track. At ~3/4 mark of each session I did a cool down lap for the tires and you can see the effect this has on cooling.

Strange thing happened on my drive, got on the throttle and the throttle sort of wavered a for a few brief seconds. Have any of you had that happen before? Never happened with the stock calibration. I would assume that it was a traction control kicking in?

car May need to have minor adjustments due to fuel, altitude, etc…. M will read and let you know.
everything will
be fine

I definitely plan to do a data log. It feels like that was traction control kicking in, because it felt a bit jerky for a second or two, my tires are old, and it was under 40 degrees outside. I’m at least hoping that is what it was—more torque than before
Weird thing is that in previous times traction control kicked in it usually felt like a quick power cut. This time it was a jerky feeling.

trying to not chuckle…. Not in a bad way. Go enjoy the extra tq and power. Get some
new tires and wait for spring.
i spin sometimes completely through 1’st and second gear now with the E85 file on blacktop on fresh tires.
makes me smile!
datalog and go enjoy it

In my case, I seemed like it was after about 15-20 minutes of driving before mine fully awakened. Maybe all systems have to get in order? After about two weeks mine threw a code, sent it in and in about 15 min they sent me a fix. Enjoy.

Yeah, at the end of my flash the spoiler was up for no reason. Random stuff
Anyhow I plan to do a write up in a week or two after I can put on some new tires and better roads, when I can really get on it.

It's all kind of scary at first. But I think some of the cars native systems still need to adjust to the flash and it may take an hour or two of driving before that fully happens.

I updated our install notes to further iterate that the engine needs to be off during the installation procedure. The ignition must be on and the lights on the dash must be on, but the engine off.
When a flash initiates, all the systems in the car communicate with eachother and go through reset and communication procedures. It's normal for a spoiler to be up, TPMS can sometimes need to relearn, and sometimes the gas gauge will need to relearn itself which usually takes driving around the block to resolve. All normal and part of the flash procedure. All systems will very quick reset and be back to normal again.

In regards to the behavior described, sounds like traction control doing its job. If it's cold out and you have summer tires, getting grip will be an issue. We are always happy to review datalogs!
