There is definitely more delightful turbo action with Stage 1/2...if you have stock cats you may not hear it as much.

Turbocharger fun noises will certainly increase with a tune! They are doing more work. It's even more noticed with an upgraded exhaust.

I assume to get the extra boost the turbos have to spin at higher rpm?

With higher requested duty cycles and commanded boost, they will spin faster and sooner. Sounds pretty cool when you hear it with a louder exhaust

Best part about the M-tuner is that immediately you are happy with the choice you made...

Those of you with a Carrera...you will be glad you didnt cough up for a Carrera S.
If you have a Carrrera S...you will glad you didnt go for a Turbo
I have a Turbo... and no longer wonder what its like to drive a Turbo S
If you have a Turbo S...you don't need a McLaren

^ Despite miserable winter weather and my summer tires, I can't wait any longer. I"m getting my new exhaust installed Friday and am hoping to do the flash that afternoon. Problem is, even after flashing I can't test the speed and power because it will be well under 40 F that day and for several days after that:

I have been out and about in dismal conditions...Im spinning at 80 kph but loving the rush of acceleration and hearing the turbo madness.

Guess I will need another set of PA5s sooner rather than later.

Has anybody done a track day(s) yet with a stage 1 or 2 tune? I’m curious about how engine temps and performance respond to a 30 or 40 minute session of sustained high rpm driving.

M-Tuner must be installed in order to be able to datalog, meaning you'll need a file flashed to the car. We can, however, provide a "Stage 0" map if you'd like to datalog with a stock-like calibration. It's a truly stock tune, but the ECU will be shown as modified, so you don't want to go into a dealer or emissions test with Stage 0 flashed, you'll want to do a full uninstall.

No tune yet, but I’ve done 5 track days and have some data. Temps have been ideal for tracking, but not good for challenging the cooling system.

As you would expect full throttle heats things up, but as soon as throttle is reduced IAT & Charge Air Cooler temps drop off quickly. The magnitude of IAT spikes are a function of the duration of max throttle For the tracks I’ve visited max duration at full throttle is ~9-12 sec, with start speeds from ~58 to 88 mph so good air flow during this time. Also I have the Aerokit which has a unique flow path for the charge air cooler. Open on top with a scoop and exit ports on the sides and back.

The oil and coolant temps seem to be a function of the integrated heat load and thermal balance of the cooling system. It takes a few laps to reach steady state on the track. At ~3/4 mark of each session I did a cool down lap for the tires and you can see the effect this has on cooling.
