I waffled on fixed roof vs. glass sunroof on the T and went with the latter. My primary concern was having a car as structurally rigid as available. Turns out 911 coupes start with an open roof anyways.

Yup, really interesting design/graphic.... Only difference/debate becomes weight and shifting the center of gravity lower (via the CFRP/No Sunroof) or slightly higher (via glass/sheet metal sliding).

I currently have a 991.2 GTS and the spoiler goes much higher when the sun roof is open.

Yea... all 992 Generation cars also have a much higher degree of angle when roof is open too... and as I mentioned earlier, even the Base 992 has the airbrake position where the wing is almost at a 90 degree angle under heavy breaking from high speeds.
But the T will for sure have a sportier look and bigger wing rise vs. a base

How many here with an allocation haven't really driven many recent 911s? I just test drove my first modern 911 yesterday. I have driven a bunch of different flavors of Caymans because I started this search looking for a 718 GTS. The car I drove yesterday was a CPO 2017 Carrera base model w/PDK. My impression of the car overall was really good, but it did feel a little light on power to me at freeway speeds, so I'm starting to think that I might be better off with a 991.2 GTS than a 992 T. The 991.2 would be similar or lighter weight than the 992T and have more power with more amenities (including a better sound system). Not sure if others have the same temptation as the used market corrects?

I have owned the 991 generation and 992 generation cars. My 991 was an S model and my 992 a C2... I honestly am to this day amazed at what Porsche has achieved with the 992 generation cars. The C2, in my opinion, blows the 991 S out of the water. I dont have any experience with a 991 GTS (at least not owning one)... but the 992 cars really are a big step up in overall performance. My C2 992 was equipped with all the performance parts (Sport Chrono with Sport + mode, launch control, sport exhaust, etc)... I was able to put down 3.5 0-60 times with that setup and I pushed the car to 150's on the track and 170's on the autobahn and it was happy being there the whole time.
I loved my 991 gen as well (it was a 7-speed manual)... it had a great feel to it, very engaging... but looking back I could never step back in generation to a 991 mostly because of the interior feel, but also because I think the 992 feels like a more solid platform... Its hard to argue on the HP figures on paper, but get behind the wheel and really experience the 992... The T is going to be such a great mix with the involvement of the manual, the improved engineering of the 992 platform and the "go fast bits" all thrown into the mix.

If getting your hands on an allocation isnt possible, I would recommend the 991 generation... but more so a CPO 992 if you can find a 2020 or 2021 with some miles you should be able to get for under MSRP at this point. and then trade for your allocation when it comes in

I haven't driven a 911 in a long time, I'm sure it will be fun. Power to weight ratio of a 992.2 GTS (manual) is 7.1 vs. 992 T is 8.6 lb/hp. You decide @RichJ_cars

This is a valid point...I do think the ability of the 992 platform to actually put power to the pavement has improved a lot. I remember struggling a bit more in the 991 off the line with traction, and didnt have the same level of confidence in corners.... by no means significant, but when I reflect back on both cars these sentiments come to mind.

And the S is around 7.6 if I recall correctly. Seems to be a major jump from the base engine (T) to the S.

Thanks for your reply, I actually have a T allocation already. Driving a 991.2 was interesting because it didn't feel "big" as many people have suggested, nor did the interior feel dated downmarket even though it was a lightly optioned car. I also didn't notice excessive "vacuum cleaner" noises or significant turbo lag (though it definitely had a little). I think this is the benefit of coming from Ford, Chevy and Mitsubishi cars...haha.

That is my impression too. After owning a range of cars, I think the sweet spot for weight to wheel horsepower on a street or track car is right aroud 7.

Aside from a 5 minute drive, I have no 992 and zero 991 seat time. No 997 either. I owned a 996 that I didn't love the light floaty front end. My CGTS4.0 is the best Pcar I've ever driven, and while different from things like my GT350 or Cobra, the mid engine 718 is a car I always grab the keys for. Love it. I just hope the 911 satisfies as much. Because the only thing I dislike on the Cayman is the looks and history. It's no 911!

I know exactly what you mean. My first P-car was a Cayman S... I absolutely loved the platform, the way it took corners etc, but It could never scratch the 911 itch. I was 24yo when I bought that pre owned Cayman and it was the perfect first Porsche for me. It only had 28K miles at the time, was a 6-speed manual with the sport chrono package and sport exhaust. I could beat it up on track and learn how to be a better driver, It was such a fantastic car... but to answer your question @AdamIsAdam there isn't a single day of 911 ownership where I have longed for the Cayman S.

Are you UK? I have a stunning 991.2 GTS available ahead of my T’s arrival! 😀👍🏻
