But yeah, I do not want horrible audio. If it sounds the equivalent of playing music directly out of my iPhone sitting in a cup holder, then yeah I’m willing to pay for the upgrade. I just want it to be a decent car stereo.
I have a +15k home audio system and I’m quite picky when it comes to music quality. Said that I would never spend 5k in a car poorly isolated. In case the base system is extremely disappointing you can update it with a fraction of the cost of the Burmester.

If it comes down to cost, then skip it... If the price tag isnt bothering you, then option it if its really making you scratch your head.
The other side of the coin for me was, I didn't like the look of the silver speakers on an all black interior and it adds some (I wont argue a lot ) of weight to a car that im trying to be somewhat thoughtful on keeping light. Plus... there is a symphony behind the (now deleted) seats
Thanks for the helpful comments here. I agree with you and others that it doesn’t fit my “ethos” build. I also am not a fan of the aluminum/chrome appearance with logo showing. It seems like the base is decent enough for my needs.

I skipped the Burmester as well. I've owned an audio store in Chicago for 26 years (I opened it as a law student in 1996 and to my amazement, it's still going!). I have owned seven 911's during that time. I have never paid for expensive audio in any of them, even though I obsess over my stereo at home and have optioned upgraded audio in my luxury cars and trucks. On the T in particular, it seems out of place.

Burmester was the standard audio system in my C63, and if I had the option to save 5k and go with the base audio from the lower trims I would have gone for it. As I've said before I just don't find myself listening to music while driving these days. I've started to appreciate being able to hear all the noises of what is happening on the road around me and the noises my car is making, both fun noise and being able to catch any issues.

The silver speaker grilles felt normal in that car which had a much more dressed up interior with matching aluminum trim on the doors but I feel like it would seem out of place in the standard interior on the T.

Yep. To me an audio system (or listening experience) is limited by its noise floor. Base system should be fine for basic use in the T.

It feels like they're probably aligning shipping... some of us are getting pulled forward by a couple weeks, others getting pulled back.

I'm getting the Burmester, i don't care if it competes with the ethos of the car. I'm buying the car for backroads driving and listening to music while I drive, and the Burmester was awesome in my Boxster 25 years with the windows down. I'm not optioning the 18 way and leather package, both which individually add more weight to the car than the Burmester does, adding those options don't match the car's ethos either. Optioning a Burmester is no more ridiculous than people putting custom leather into GT3s.

I've heard the base audio, and its truly terrible (on par with my Honda Civic from college) and i just wouldn't enjoy my car if i had it.

I can understand people who add Burmester. Just as long as you accept the out of place aluminium covers. And Burmester is pretty overpriced according to my Audio guy from Clanck. For those reasons I went for the basic option and will add the aftermarket set which will be much cheaper but will sound even better than the Burmester. But basically it’s a shame Bose is not available.

I don't think it looks out of place at all. Looks better than black plastic grills. Also, I'd rather have something factory installed that actually works with the steering wheel and screen vs. someone taking apart panels, etc. I had Bose in the 991.2T and I liked it. It wasn't phenomenal, but it was good enough. I'd go for Burmester if there is no Bose. No question.

I was trying to do some research, where are aftermarket sets with amps? I don't see a Pcar equivalent to like BAV Sound in BMW that makes this easy. Also you can just have the covers replaced or painted, which i may do.

Well my point was the T has the black look standard from Porsche. The stitching is standard in black. The door trims and handles are black. Dash inlays are black. The T logo in the door is black. No other interior color than black. So there is a pretty undeniable black theme going on. Of course you may like the aluminium look. But I meant it’s out of place from what Porsche is presenting the T in. I do think it can add some flare to the otherwise black interior if you like that.

For the rest I agree completely: I also hate aftermarket letting someone touch the car and taking panels out. Can’t deny that.

I think there is silver/gray trim on the dash and around the shifter. It's plastic and doesn't match well but it's there. Personally I don't think the aluminum grills need to match anything in the car. It's one of those pieces (for me) where there is an exception. Plus it's fairly hidden anyway.

Ironically, you can choose the Interior Trim Inlays in leather on other models (on the GTS it's a free option) but not available on the T. This changes all of this trim you are referring to, to a muted silver color.
