  • Customizable seats including piping color, stitching color, center insert material / color (including Pepita or plaid), headrest logo for $9K
Those are pretty rich options, no doubt, esp. on a $130K-ish build. But I'm curious if anyone has done this or is considering it?
I tried this but, like everything else, they are not accepting CXX orders “for the foreseeable future”

Howdy folks. I'm on an Amtrak killing time, so naturally thinking all things Porsche. So.........

Carbon Fiber Roof? Worth it?

Pros:
Rarity, exclusivity, and making the car more collectible?
Cool factor and conversation piece at shows?
Very nice looking.
Breaks up the Python Green
Lighter by 4lbs (which means I can order desserts more often)

Cons:
COST!

The only other potential con I can think of is that the clearcoat on carbon fiber on other brands at least is a little more fragile than what's on normal paint. I've seen plenty of BMWs with faded or failed clear on carbon fiber roofs but perfect paint everywhere else.

Hmm, good to know. I will be PPF'ing the entire car, and it will only see sunlight while actually driving (or at a show) since it lives in a garage. But that's good to know.

Oh, one more "con" is that I plan to put the PORSCHE motorsport over the top stripe on the car. If I get the roof, I would only put the strip on the hood I guess, especially since I want to get a stripe custom made to match the agate gray door stripe.

Hmm. I dunno. PPF is designed to allow the paint underneath it to fade from sun at the same rate as non-covered paint, so likely it won't help. But then again, the physical clear coat will be 100% in tact, not subject to wearing thin.

Will XPEL ULTIMATE make the paint underneath the film fade at a different rate?

No. XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film allows UV to pass through the film and fade the paint underneath at the same rate as the exposed paint.

I had RAS on my first T (and both of my 991.2 GT3’s, of course). I immediately checked the RAS box for my 991.2 T using the same logic as Adam, and raised by some reviewers — that is, if it’s included on the GT3, then you need to add it on the Carrera. But I’m now starting to reconsider this line of reasoning for my 992 T. Other than full leather, I don’t have anything that adds weight; and I have multiple items that reduce weight. I’m now leaning toward skipping RAS and sticking with a focus on lighter without the additional RAS nanny.

F1 cars do not have RAS. They tried it in the nineties and it didn’t reduce lap times at all.
In fact all it did was add complexity and the drivers hated it.
Personally I haven’t specced it, but I would have if I needed a smaller turning radius where I regularly park etc.
While I see arguments for adding and skipping, I always thought the real benefit of RAS was track times — it’s surely not needed for road driving and I don’t care about park turning — so I found this post by Barkat03 interesting.

The FIA had actually banned rear wheel steering before it was even tried out. I don't think it was ever used in actual racing. The teams that did test it out in the early 90s didn't find it made a huge difference but that it felt weird.
Here's an article on it: https://www.racefans.net/2007/03/22/...heel-steering/

I would think that rear wheel steering in 1993 is much different than in 2023 even if it's Formula 1. I do check the box myself though, but could live without it as well.

Not available for the T.

The number of CXX options/possibilities is seemingly limitless. I’d advise anyone considering CXX to meet with a personal design manager with Porsche Exclusive. And you were told correctly, CXX options are not listed on the regular menu/configurator. Last comment…if you are heading into CXX territory, make sure your wallet is full and ready to go. It gets expensive fast.

CF roof looks awesome, I just start to get OCD when considering it, in that scenario you have your paint color, you have your Titanium Grey mirrors and wheels, and then you have a CF roof. It feels like there's a lot going on. Maybe I'm wrong.
