Why does everyone say/think that the Carrera T is so much more fun to drive than the other 992 models? I know it is more lightweight but I suspect that there could be a difference in the transmission tune, or gearing or throttle mapping as well? Anyone know the details on how different the T is (with regard to how fun it is to drive) than the other models other than the weight and smaller turbos?

I currently have a new T and have driven 992 variants: Base, S and GTS (used at dealers) and GT3 Touring (a friend's) before ordering. I enjoyed them all immensely (though the only one I couldn't find to drive prior to actually ordering one was a T). I wasn't prepared to pay ADM (bye GT3t), and had to be a coupe, manual and RWD (so no base, 4 or Turbo). I was able to locate a T, S or GTS without ADM after searching.
GTS too close in $'s (the way I configured each at least) to a (theoretical non-ADM) gt3t and wasn't in love with center-locks for a daily driver regardless (though an ordered PTS gt3t at msrp may require the T to make an early departure should one come available
![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Between the S and T? Had to rely on the billion reviews of the 992 out there. I could only find one "meh" review on the T and nothing jumped out in favor of an S (though I really wanted the blue interior, so it had that going for it in the "+" side of the "T-chart.") stating how much fun it was (or why it should be selected) over a T...
So, just now crossing break-in miles and maybe the reviewers are right? The sum of the parts is greater together? Maybe there's a dollar threshold where the reviewers think they're getting a "bargain" for the fun delivered and T falls below that? I don't know. You've already read about the "feels naturally asipirated (yep)" and many other positive comments, so I won't re-state. But the reviewer's got this one right. This is not the fastest car I've owned (by far), but it's probably the most "connected" I've felt, as man-machine-road, in some time in a modern vehicle. Truly magical when you can open her up and attack a fun road (which I have to travel far to find where I'm at).
Enjoy in health and happiness and hope you find the magic formula on why this car's so great!

Not sure anyone will actually be able to give you a legit answer, so here's another anecdote:

My first new Porsche although I have had 2 used 991 GT3's. So far the experience has been awesome as well as the thoughtful and helpful folks on the forum like yourself.

Its crazy...sold my 19 Carrera T to play with:
-the new 2020 C8 (back then) and admittedly started to miss the connectiveness of a 911
-bought a 17 NSX to scratch the itch for awd monster high hp fun and its neat but has loads of ergonomics and weird oddities to it
-dealership gave me a Z06 allocation so it will be built in April...I'll give it a go on track and see if its worthy of keeping.
But...still want a fun daily driver so when I had the opportunity to order my 24 Carrera T I jumped at it. What are the kids and wifey more excited for...

I love taking road trips and fun drives and I think the Carrera T will be perfect for that.

@Will Motivation all special 911s are sum-of-parts cars and the T is no exception. In the Ts case:
- smaller turbos + PSE = feels and sounds near-NA and requires wringing out
- manual in a PDK world = more analog entertainment value
- no rear seats + thinner glass + thinner insulation = feels/sounds like a proper 911 and less like a luxo GT
- softer suspension = faster and less tiring as a road car
- lower weight if you spec it well = more responsive and visceral
You can achieve the above with a base, S, and GTS to a certain degree but base is PDK only and I've never seen or heard of an S or GTS spec't like a T and even if they were, larger turbos take away from the whole thing.
The only way you can detract from the above points is if you load it up with options.

I did a 2023 with all the red interior options and guards red paint and rs wheels and 18 ways for 135840. Biggest expense was the leather and the red deviated stitching.

A Carrera T with a PDK, 18 ways, sunroof, rear seats, etc... Will not feel nearly as special or differentiated as compared to other models.

I've moved on from the T to a GT3T, and while I love the GT3T, I still reflect on T ownership quite often. I think it's what everyone has said above re. the sum of the parts, but I also believe that the very simple, very confident, very pure driving experience, and power band so perfectly suited for the street combined with the relatively low cash outlay for the experience makes the T seem all that more fulfilling perhaps, and less needing to be analyzed or measured against dollars or other opportunity costs.
Now if someone slaps the S/T lightweight clutch and flywheel into the T, as GT3 owners are beginning to, I may be convinced back into the fold.

If a Carrera T is spec'd right, the combination of low weight and small turbos provides a different feel than you get on other 992s.

What you're saying is I have the wrong configuration on my T for the optimal "T" experience. oh well, i'll enjoy my nicely equipped base 911 with fancy stickers.
