Agree with the idea of comparing the two but man I would sure like your paint shop phone number if they are comparable. I'm mid restomod on an 81 Bronco and got quoted $35k for paint... I'm going patina on that one and PPF on the T!

Fun thought experiment. Adjust the cost for inflation and go back to 1981 and pay to have the bronco wrapped every 5 years until now. Does that cost exceed the cost of a paint job now, and does the truck still need a new paint job anyway?

Someone could nerd out even harder and analyze the opportunity cost of having it wrapped every 5 years instead of investing that money into an index fund.

We have experienced the same thing on a new BMW SAV that we ordered and had 8 mil Xpel Ultimate Plus immediately applied. What is the point in having PPF if you are still getting tears in the film with damage underneath (rock chips) that later has to be repaired? I formerly believed in the product and previously had good results, but something has changed and now it seems as if it was money flushed. Aka, snake oil.

Picked the T up last week and dropped it off at the PPF shop for wrapping. Finally got to go fetch her yesterday and drove it home through rush hour.

First impressions are that this would be an easy daily, if need be, head and shoulders tamer in all aspects than the 7.2 GT3 as one would expect. What I didn’t bargain for was just how ‘car like’ it was on the way home. Very civilised and not in the slightest bit angry. But of course, this was rush hour and I respected a 5k limit.

Some random shots from Pick-up, PPF and collection:

I always like their videos. The one thing that's bothered me about this particular video is hanging on to 5th gear right up to 7500rpm rather than grabbing 6th gear. The power curve is well past it's 6500 rpm peak and I feel they could easily have grabbed a bit more speed by getting the engine closer to peak power rather than waiting for redline to shift.

Any Kiwis in here? Have 10 days during spring break here in NorCal (fall in NZ I guess) and would love to do a road trip. Trying to convince wife this would be more fun than HK.

I like this game! It’s a good point you make though IMO if you don’t PPF then you’d need at least a repaint at around year 20 and again now at 40 versus zero in the PPF scenario, though of course you are looking at 8 PPF’s in the PPF analysis. If you could make it 40 years without a repaint I think it’s a push but only if you ignore alternate investment analyses. A fun and relevant math exercise for sure. I think we all know the answer is actually simple and requires no math - cars are spending not investing, lol.

Default 2023 911t about to be avail

Porsche ElPaso has a 2023 911 T silver and color lizard green interior, a bunch of other options. it’s really a nice build. It has about 3000 miles on it. The guy traded it in on a ZO6 Corvette so give sales a call if you’re interested in a nice looking 2023, 911 T. Oh, the important option, manual transmission and rear seat delete.

@Macboy And you are still as enthusiastic as the day you picked it up. Congratulations most likely the highest mileage to?
That's my friend with odd shoes one was a racing boot as he has big feet and couldn't push the accelerator without hitting the brake simultaneously in normal shoes!
The pedals in a Cobra are very close together !
Best,
Devon Racer.
