That is a bargain! I was recently quoted $3k for the same coverage plus rockers and double film on rear flares. Xpel Ultimate Plus 10 mil.

@Macboy Which consist of what? Following Porsche’s recommended break-in period or something else? 🤷‍♂️

Edit: The way I interpret the owners manual it would be frowned upon exceeding 4k for the first 1875 miles (3,000km). Therefore keeping it under 4k. 🤦‍♂️

How many have followed this instead? ⬇️

i have a 2024 PDK Carrera T, and it's about 1500miles now.

i have been hearing loud clicking noise/sound when shifting from 2nd to 3rd Gear at low speed, see the video attached.

has anyone had the same issue ? do you think this is normal or do you think this is a defect from the factory ?

That’s about the norm. Make sure they don’t do any trimming on the car and understand the ‘painted sticker’ below the hood crest. I’m shocked at the amount of installers who think it’s no big deal to trim on the paint. 99% of the time they’re going to cut it.

I have had multiple vehicles with Xpel installed. Generally it has cost $3-3.5k. Why I stated $1500 was a bargain. Unheard of in either state that we have homes in. I am actually on the fence about having it applied to the T as it will only be driven locally and rarely on interstates.

From my understanding from multiple PPF shop owners whom are annually awarded the Xpel dealer of the year award, the vast majority of installers cut (score) on every vehicle. 👎

What is this ‘painted sticker’ under the hood crest that you are speaking of?

Yeah. Another poster on here posted a shop that they use and it was close to me. I checked their website and it showed a video of them wrapping a side mirror with ppf then cutting on the mirror. Took off my list and I probably won't get any ppf at all.

Can blame the car but what an idiot

Hey @Macboy , you outrun all of us. Respect!

I turned 10’000 miles the other day and I managed to capture the 9’992 on the clock

My previous c2 that I removed the crest on before ppf. A perfectionist installer should be able to modify the pattern to cut close enough to the crest without the need to remove it.

My 997.2 has PPF that was last replaced by the original owner in 2014 and it is due for replacement again. The problem I have run into, no PPF shop really wants to tackle the job of removing it and certainly not on the cheap. The average price to remove old PPF is $75-$125 per hour.

Rock chips are certainly annoying, as well as heartbreaking and there used to be a time that they were inevitable. “It’s patina!” 😂 Back then there was nothing we could do about it other than touch-up it where it still looked bad or repaint. Then PPF arrived which has actually been on the market now for 20-25+/- years, but it had a shorter lifespan and yellowed as well. Now the average lifespan is approx 7-10 years and dependent upon one’s environment, how often subjected to UV, and how often garaged. The current problem is it is not a 100% solution to the problem as many, including myself are still acquiring rock chips through the PPF which appears to be tearing rather easily. PPF in general is great in theory, but it has flaws. Does the good outweigh the bad? Yes, probably so…

I don’t know why the pic posted separately. Anyways my preferred shop no longer uses xpel or patterns and thinks it’s more impressive to post their installers trimming everything under the sun directly on the painted surface! The other xpel shop does most of the dealers Porsches, but they’re a little flippant in their concern for perfection.

I have an appointment with a supercar detailer/ppf installer for early April. He uses custom patterns with suntek film. I’m really confused by the trend of making installs so “hidden” that the actual paint is jeopardized by the installer!?? Ppf is not a permanently installed product.

My PFF installer has done two of my 911's with Suntek Reaction film using their custom patterns and both have come out really, really good as he does not cut anything on the car, if it needs trimming then he trims it before he sticks it down. The Reaction film itself is top quality.

A few updates to the interior, it’s not for everyone but it’s influenced from my collection.
