I believe he means that if you based your selection of each option only on whether it adds weight or not, RAS would be a weight added option and therefore would be skipped. I don't believe RAS and titanium bolts have any incompatibilities.

We will have to see what really happens with demand. I bet a few of us are on lists with multiple dealers? From one dealer's perspective, they may think they have demand 7 deep but that might not actually be the case if some of those names are also on lists elsewhere...

you can buy Acer titanium bolts for $240 here instead of paying Porsche $1800 for them and get the same result: https://www.acerracing.com/collectio...nium-lug-bolts

Doesn't seem like Matt is the biggest T fan. I understand his points - the 992 is bigger and more complex than the 991. I also agree that the 992 T only makes sense if you keep the options light, but this was true with the 991.2 T as well. The narrow body 991.2 T made it drive smaller. I do wish Porsche would have thrown in a few more of the RS bits, like the regular exterior door handles - those seemingly small little things really helped set apart the 991.2 T from a base or Carrera S. Still, the 992 T is the best value and combination of performance options in the Carrera lineup.

If any of you new T Army guys want some advice on spec'ing yours, reach out to some of us previous gen enlistees. We all have some ideas of what we like/wouldn't get again. I will just say this (probably again...), it makes no sense to option your T without the things that set it apart/that you can't get elsewhere in the lineup or to option it with those things that don't significantly contribute to the drive that you can spec. The ethos thing has become a running joke with a lot of you, but it does matter, particularly if you are looking for driving enjoyment and holding value. Marketing? Maybe. Truth based on experience? Yes, to a lot of us... The Porsche cars that are held in high esteem long after their production stops are the ones that are different and drive differently (better) and that are rare. Sometimes they were rare due to Porsche not making "enough", sometimes they are rare because few understood what they were built for. There is a real popular myth out there that the 991.2 didn't sell well. The cars that sat were the dealer optioned cars with PDK and a bunch of options to pad their bottom line/appeal to people who didn't want a "base experience". They weren't in-line with the T ethos. The folks who can't/won't/whatever get the ethos seize on this stuff and run with it. I say let them, build your car the way you want it, and then laugh at them. Just as most of the rest of us spec'd our car the way we wanted them and are holding onto and driving them... Or moving them on for what we paid for them or close enough to it not to matter after 4 or 5 years of joy. They are that good (and COVID happened). Even if guys who wouldn't be caught dead in one say they aren't anything special...
The true/spiritual predecessor to the 991.2 T, the 3.2 Carrera Clubsport ( https://www.total911.com/datafile/91...3-2-clubsport/ ), was also panned by people when it was built. The old internet holdings are rife with guys talking it down, just like a lot of guys that are still hanging around (and giving their opinions above...) did with the 991.2... It's RL, it happens... I built my car about as closely as I could to a Clubsport from the factory. My advice to any of you is to do the same. The reasons are evident. The cars spec'd right are awesome to use and still MSRP cars, and will be over that soon... Try finding a Clubsport now for less than what you'd pay for a new motorsport car (with ADM...) or isn't considered one of the best driving experiences ever by someone who has had the pleasure. You can't. Here ends the rant...

yeah he's steered me correctly on several purchases before and i trust him here too. I'll probably keep my .1 RS that i was going to trade after i ordered a T. But now that i can't get buckets i might just pass and keep the RS, and yes i know they are very different cars.

Awesome commentary! I agree with you 100%.. I know it’s become a bit of a joke but I have bought into the Ethos hook, line and sinker. Personally I think there is something very special about the T. I can’t wait to get mine. Without going into detail there are some not so good things going on in my life and this vehicle has really become a glowing beacon of light and hope for me. It gives me something to obsess about and dream about. I am nowhere near as financially secure as many of our friends here at RL, but I’m taking the plunge because this might be the only chance I can ever do something like this. With that said, I am posting my build code (sorry if that’s the wrong term). Any commentary positive or negative is greatly appreciated. I also have a budget I’m trying to stick to as well. I like the Exclusive wheels better than the standard issue but Im wondering if they are heavier. Obviously my build is very spartan as I am trying to adhere to the Ethos. I would like to also take this time to wish all of my fellow Porsche enthusiasts a great day and please be safe out in this crazy world.

^^^ The only problem is and it is a significant one, a used 991 will cost as much or possibly more than a brand new 992 nowadays. That's what drove me from looking for a used CPO vs a new 992.
