It probably won't work, but I'm going to see if they'll let me pay VAT with a credit that has 0% promotional APR and then do a charge back afterwards. I'm guessing not.
I wouldn't say "do a chargeback" (which would have costs for them and put them in a penalty box with their processor) but rather a refund/reversal.
Processing a payment and then refunding it a month later shouldn't cost them much at all if they have good terms with their processor. But many merchants don't - many merchants are charged on "gross payment volume" instead of "net payment volume," which means they pay the ~3% fee on all purchases, even if they're refunded later. (This results in pure profit for the processor, who doesn't have to pay interchange on the refunded money.)
If your dealership finance manager knows anything about their payments costs, they should be OK with taking this deposit on a card if you offer to pay their 3% fee. But then you should ask yourself if you're really saving any money, since a 3% fee to avoid taking cash out of your bank account for one month is equivalent to an 36% APR...
P.s. can you guess which industry I work in?

Appreciate the clarifications! Definitely not worth while if I would end up having to pay the 3%. We'll see what they want to agree to if I get an allocation.

They do end up getting an extra 911 allocation for every 911 ED, so you could try negotiating a little

I may see what I can squeeze out, but with my being put on the list at MSRP (for 1st or 2nd ED allocations), not sure how much wiggle room they'll give me if they even hold true on the MSRP pricing.

Full Bucket Seats 45.8 lbs. total

You won't notice the 31 lb difference between the 4 Ways and 18 Ways. Get what fits you best, IMO.
I don't believe these quoted weight are applicable to the 992. On the turbo-S, Porsche quote a 66lb savings for the lightweight package, which includes replacing the 18-way seats for the full bucket seats, removing the rear seats and seat belts, electric steering column, sound deadening and light weight glass. If all that is worth 66lb, the LWBS vs the 18-way cannot be worth 82lb...

Further, I don't believe the weight difference between the 18-way and 4-way is as much as 31lb, my guess is about half that,

Gonna be a little peeved if PTS is a talking point in all these reviews knowing what we know from dealers not being able to order it.

Rule #1 when introducing a car is know the model. But I would think a close #2 would be know the color.

Has anyone with a confirmed T allocation recieved any e mail or status updates from Porsche? If so, what have you recieved? I'm in, but have nothing so far. Whats the usual sequence and timing for status updates, etc. Thanks!

Nothing from Porsche, just a build sheet from my SA. I was V200 on the first copy I received, but it had some items selected that I didnt want so after those changes the latest sheet I had was V150. Probably won't bother him for an update until next week.

Not sure at which point you can use the "Track your Porsche" site offered by Porsche, but here's a link to a thread on status codes and tracking if you want to be as obsessed as possible :-)

I just got an allocation on Friday so nothing yet. I haven't even submitted my build. Super early in the process for me.
