Also, if you look at the demographic of the 911 buyers, many guys couldn't be bothered with shifting stick. Last summer, on my tour to Italy, I stayed at a hotel on a polo club. A very elegant man got of a horse and in his best English, with obvious French accent said: "That is a beautiful car! What model is it?" I replied "992 Carrera T, with manual transmission". He grimace and replied "Why?!" like I ruined his dream... I thought, that is an average consumer
Good story! I’ve seen the type.

I’ve lived in Europe over many summers, rest of the time in the states. Parents were born there, we’d go for the summer waters. What I seemed to see a lot of, crazy driving yes 😁, but for the most part stick shift was the most common in less expensive autos. This man might have seen a beautiful car and thought, too bad he couldn’t t have afforded an automatic? Much easier when passing the Gray Poupon. 🥸

IF, and it's a big if, the sales of the 992 T follow the trend of the 991.2 T, the manual will outsell the PDK, at least in North America. More than 2/3 of the 1043 991.2 T's sold in North America had the manual. No numbers for ROW.

For those worried about the manual being "slower" than the PDK, ask yourself how many times you do a full-bore standing start. That's where the advantage lies. Once underway the advantage is reduced tremendously.

Just to make all you lot happy I have a few cars and not one is auto they are all manual and I don't intend selling any as Ice and manuals are going to be an extinct breed shortly, hence my T order and I don't care how slow it might be compared to PDK driving skill not Traffic light grand prix's is what lights my bulb!
I drove a BMW M50 electric and hated it heavy and cumbersome, but went like a rocket but that's all, not for me and I am to old to care for electric.
But then I have never being a member of a golf club!

But can you tell me the differences between using the PDK in manual mode vs shifting gears with the 7 speed, other than the obvious 3rd peddle? Emotionality up shifts and down shifts feel similar. I have driven both the standard 7 and the 8 PDK, and found one just as enjoyable as the other. With the edge going to the PDK for daily traffic but see how wonderful the standard 7 can be in the twisties, the PDK was well. Like I said above, I’ve had many years with a stick. Maybe not enough time with the Porsche 7 speed? I truly await yours or others answer to this question I pose above? THX -ds
For me I think it's the increased amount of responsibility and greater involvement. I'm an engineer and there's something a bit more satisfying about being a more integral part of the whole mechanical package. I agree it is absolutely inferior from a performance perspective, but I'm not competitive with anyone other than myself. I want it for my own experience.

The BMW M50 is a bastardization of a brand once great car, I had an M3 E90 V8 for this that don’t know, and I refuse to even consider anything after the M F80. Pushed me into Porsche, over any Benz or Audi. All were manuals till the last one, a DCT. I guess I just like the pull off the line and then letting the PDK do its thing, manually of course when I feel I want to. Nice to have the choice!

I doubt any RLers will be surprised. Anyone who has been with Porsche for longer than a cup of coffee knows that all or nearly all dealer-specced cars are PDK.

As most cars sold here in the US currently, even HD trucks seem to have low gear autos. For me it’s been so long since I’ve actually bought something off a lot. I enjoy the torture of placing an order and waiting till I lose my mind on that last day before going in. That’s when you order your manuals, preorders.

Someone said there is a weight penalty for race Tex interior. Is this true? How much?

Love that stripe. If you're willing, please share or PM as that's what I want on my White T when it comes in. Did you find it's close enough to coloring of the side script?

I was speaking in jest. As a non engineer, I find the manual to be essential in why you would chose the T over a base or S 992.
