992 Carrera T Club

sounds amazing but I’d bet they just open the “special” paints like they did on the last one (MB and Lava). I’d expect shark blue with some type of amazing shark blue sport-Tex though, again going along with the past. It would also be interesting if they opened up the many different color interiors such as in the GT3 with the LWBS. That actually might get thinking of upgrading mine but it’d still be tough, but again that strays away from the T minimalistic ethos. Cabrio as mentioned above sounds ridiculous.
there is also a boxster T….
so the Cabrio is not that ridiculous…

It actually makes more sense in the boxster than the cayman, then again I guess Porsche could also make a Taycan T as well or even a Cayenne T. IMO the cabrio has a bit more weight to overcome:
Curb weights as reported by Porsche (non T form)
boxster base = 3,020
cayman base = 3,040
911 Carrera Base Cabrio = 3,508
911 Carrera Base = 3,353
the 718 is a wash when it comes to weights, the 911 has a whole person of extra weight to figure out.
but if Porsche can make some money off of it they will build it. To each their own.

If they are going to do one for the 991.2, it seems really early for a dealer to be taking deposits. Did they give you a rough release date?
EDIT: Nevermind. I see that someone mentioned that the announcement will likely be in November.

If anyone has a referral for a California dealership willing to take a refundable deposit on a Carrera T waiting list could they please post or private message me. Our local Riverside dealer where we purchased our Macan from said they couldn't take a deposit on a car which doesn't exist, which, is fair enough.
This is new to me, all car purchases have always been in stock - if/when a spot on a list is available and the allocation comes up, is it possible to specify when the build will occur? I'd like to do European Delivery and pick up the car in Leipzig anytime between May-October, is that something which is typically accommodated or is it a first come/first serve basis: take whatever you can get or luck out type of deal with these custom orders?
Cheers,
Colin

There may be a 992 T in the future but according to all the dealers in the tri state area there is NO info available or deposits to be taken at this time

Because it doesn’t exist- some dealers will take a deposit on the new 2022 944 Turbo if you want to put down $2,000 to be on the “waiting list”

Of course there are dealers out there who will gladly take a buyer's cash in promise of being 1st in line for the "soon to be released" Carrera T and promise those persons a car at X date which will most likely be pushed back and back longer than originally planned. Such is the case with cars that MAY exist on the drawing board or Porsche's test tracks but not yet to the general public! Doubtful you'll see a Carrera T this year 2021 or even 2022 as a model year car. Porsche in fact is already well into the 2022 allocations and NO Carrera T yet. They don't even have the Carrera GTS's on the road yet although finally announced last month for public consumption! And remember also those GTS cars are not even yet for US delivery wise until probably next summer sometime 2022! This all is IF current global logistics and delivery of chipsets and other parts by subcontractors continues to improve. A big IF in some areas and for some auto manufacturers. Heard Ford/Chevy were closing some of their lines for a few weeks to get cars produced to the dealers and masses in particular for those best selling ones.
So yeah my dealer and the last 4 I've purchased P-cars from all confirm there is NOTHING from PCNA or PAG yet to them on any Carrera T and allocations are a pipe dream at worse...at least 12-15 mos away at best bet as they still are allocation and inventory limited across the board/lineup and nation at many dealerships due to COVID19 and its related challenges. Its still a ways away from business and unfortunately ordering and buying cars as usual and in the past unfortunately and this likely includes a Carrera T commission # for those seeking one at this time at least. Good luck!

My T was a slick top, manual, carbon bucket seats, rear seat delete, RWS, lightweight glass option car - but I never tracked it.
Lightweight is the ethos of the car (clubsport) but people will order what they like and who are we to judge? They are all cool cars.
And I still say there will be NO 992 Carrera T
Sorry! Its not real :-)

Though, I am sure that there are plenty of dealers that would be excited at the opportunity to charge a $30-40k ADM on a T or T allocation.

When I read the 992 models would roll out a lightweight option (lightweight glass etc) across the model line - to me that seemed to signal no need for a T.
“For fixed-top GTS models, Porsche is finally letting you add lightness to your GTS. The lightweight package includes carbon-fiber bucket seats, lightweight side and rear windows and a lightweight battery. All in, this will save you 55 pounds. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but every pound saved makes the car perform that much better”
If I can tick that option on a GTS - why go for the T?
In the 991 T the lightweight bits were unique to the T only.

A fool and his money or early bird.
For anyone interested in SoCal - Riverside will take your name on the list; they'll only ask for deposits once/if the car is official. Would prefer to put money down but call Bob - straight shooter so far. His rumors put the car announced early next year, potentially coming out late 2022. YMMV. Pick up and hit the Ring in summer of 2023
