If you are not in a CARB state, do you have any idea what is/has been causing your car to continue to be held at the port?

Sounds like Vintage72’s car is being held for other reasons actually.

Here’s a crazy HOPEFUL theory .... maybe non-CARB deliveries are being delayed because they need the cargo space to deliver all the backlogged CARB state cars!?!?

just some Thursday morning hope .....

In a CARB state and my car has been sitting since 8/28. Talked to GM of my dealer yesterday who said "they are still saying Friday but seems unlikely". They have a total of 5 cars on hold with 2 since August.

I've already told them I'm not taking the car but they keep me posted hoping they will convince me to take it when it comes in.

Did they give you your deposit back?

They have my deposit AND my 991 trade in already. I have not totally decided what I'm going to do yet but the likely case is that I'll apply both to a Cayenne they have on the lot for my wife. This weekend's project.

Makes sense. Good luck.

I departed with my 911 GTS for a 718 GTS 4.0 sitting at a port that I will likely cancel this weekend. Should have held on to the 911.

Yes, I live in Texas and I agree that my car appears to be on hold for suspect reasons. MY GSM says otherwise as of an email this morning but I have no trust in PNA anymore. Like you, I am passionate about Porsches but this has sucked the joy out of the car for me. Look, I know it sounds petty in these times and I have tried to remain positive, but at this point I have no interest in being disappointed every week or two with a new delivery date.

So I assume that your car is still sitting in Houston for unknown reasons, even though EPA certification happened on November 12th? That is unacceptable. Hate to see you bail out on the car, but do understand your frustration.

I was at my dealership (Michigan) yesterday. Sales manager informed me that his owner's 992 is still sitting at the port in Baltimore, even though it came in on the same ship as mine on October 30th. Mine was delivered on November 17th. They have been told that it is a "mechanical issue" and that they are waiting for a part. That seems difficult to believe, considering just about any part can be shipped overnight to dealership service departments. Either way, they aren't getting a lot of information either, but likely more than the rest of us would get considering it's the owner's vehicle.

Crazy conspiracy theory Thursday - After months of sitting, rodents have nested in our cars and destroyed the soy cased wiring harnesses. Rodents don’t care about whether your car is going to a CARB state or not. Knowing what I know now, I never would have traded in my 2019 991 GTS.

Got an unsolicited email from my SA this am indicating that his system still shows release of my car by 12/4, but he also suggested that it would not surprise him to see further delay. He also confirmed that Porsche will be offering a PSMP pre-paid maintenance plan due to the delay, but he did not yet have specifics of how that would work. He said he would let me know further when he had more details on the maintenance plan. If I get further details on that before it is otherwise reported here, I will report them here.

This is not as crazy as it sounds. Just spent more than $500 repairing wires and insulation on my daughter's Jeep. The mice ate a bunch of wires and then nibbled through the bulkhead wall and set up a nest in her glove box. Car had only been parked 4-5 days. Does not take long.

Hey John - thanks for sharing. I heard from the sales manager and the owner that Porsche NA is providing PSMP+1 for anyone who has had their 2021 911 sitting in port up to 60 days, and PSMP+2 for anyone who has had their 21 911 sitting for greater than 60 days. For context, Porsche typically charges $2400 for PSMP+2.

I think what is really causing the delays are three fold. 1. COVID Pandemic caused all kinds of logistical issues with delays, closures, short staff, etc on both sides of the equation, Porsche and government. 2. Porsche dealt with further delays due to negotiating settlements with the EPA and CARB related to dieselgate and additional emissions cheating violations with the 911, Panamera and Cayenne. Porsche only finally settled with CARB on the $5.8m fine in end of September or beginning of October, and 2021 Model year certifications weren't even being considered by EPA and CARB until these emissions violations were addressed and resolved. Maybe Porsche submitted applications 7 months ago for all we know, but they likely sat in a drawer until the fines were settled which basically JUST happened. and 3. I think the CARB office in CA is working remote (or not at all) and likely short-staffed, with a backlog of other issues that they feel take precedent. That's just my take. I have no faith (none left anyway) in getting these cars any time soon, and what for? So I can park it for the Northeast winter anyway? Bottom line, take these estimated dates from PTYD and throw them right out the window. They are absolutely meaningless. When are the cars going to get here? They get here when they get here. If that isnt good enough for you, I dont blame you, cancel the order and ask for your deposit back. In my situation, I don't have much choice since I traded in my car and don't want to lose the equivalent $7k trade savings on MA sales tax, so I'm F-ed. Never been less enthusiastic about getting a car than I am now.
