I just emailed their general info helpline. They got back to me within an hour, much to my surprise. They told me it’s confidential 🤨 and to contact Porsche. 😄

CARB maintains a list of Light Duty Vehicles EOs (approvals) and it is publicly available, but hasnt been updated since November 13th. There are three Porsche EOs on there but the links to PDFs of the EOs are broken. That doesnt seem very confidential to me.

Confidentiality is par for the course, especially for agencies such as this. I will give them props for even responding.

Just got an email back from Bill McDuffee at CARB:
Hello Mr. Xxxx,

There was a long delay in getting part of the approval process completed. I’m trying to get the Executive Order approved as soon as possible. Hopefully by the end of next week.

Best regards, Bill McDuffee
So looks like we’re definitely getting that 12/4 date pushed back based on this.

Thanks (well, not really). Sorry I ended my 991.2 lease based on what the dealer said would be my 992 C4S delivery (in RI since 9/30), as I gotta rent now. My dealer had said they would have information - hopefully positive - by 12/4. Now that it is going to be bad, I wounder just how long they will take to get to me. Again, thanks for your initiative.

when Porsche can’t tell us what the hell is going on, glad we can take things into our own hands. Thanks for sharing.

Hopefully by end of next week? Damn. This is getting comical at this point.

The data, process, and communications between the agency and applicant are held in confidence by the agency. The applicant (Porsche) can disclose information if they wish (the confidentiality is in place to protect the interests of the applicant). It can be risky to talk about any of that publicly before approval, not only for business reasons but doing so can be viewed by the regulator as shifting blame, and they can and will punish you for that if egregious - with additional delays. Once the application is approved, the regulator's summary is freely available to the public.

Nice of him (and a little surprising) to be so responsive and to offer up some tangible information. Thanks for making the call, and thanks for sharing.

That's definitely more transparency than usual. A bit risky unless he's pretty certain it will get done. Sounds like the executive order has at least been written and is in approval process.

12/4 was mentioned as an 'at earliest' date by Porsche too...

Sure hope that this 12/11 date holds true this time and there’s a light at the end of this nightmarish tunnel for you CARB state folks.
