This has been the absolutely worst car buying experience I have ever been through. Thought Porsche was a world class organization. Dealership is borderline criminal now my car is sitting in port over a week 100 miles from dealer.

Porsche is a world class performance car manufacturer
They are a very good car business
They have a lot. to learn when it comes to communication and understanding the needs of their American clients as well as the American agencies that they deal with.
Porsche has shown that they make mistakes from the shift to water cooled cars to the controversial egg shaped headlights, to moving from NA engines, to the 718 to mishandling CARB and to poor communication with their customers (Personally I do not think that the first 4 were mistakes but so be it)
At the end of the day though that comes with the territory

Porsche has promised you a car by mid December and it appears that depending on your location that they will deliver on that promise. If you are in CARB state it will still likely happen or potentially be a week or two delayed.
It appears you were screwed over by a dealer but that can and will happen with any manufacturer and is not a reflection on the company in total.

I feel for each and every one of the people that either were messed around on allocations, had to wait for ever for their cars but at the end of the day if you do not buy another Porsche there will be 100's waiting for your order. To give up on a fantastic car because a dealer messed you around with allocations or there was a delay in EPA certs in part related to Porsche does not seem to me to be a decision that makes total sense.

Your car will arrive mid December as promised and then you will know why it was worth what you went through. The dealership should be "rewarded" with appropriate reviews online and appropriate reviews to PCNA.

Unfortunately as always it is buyer beware, Learn about commission numbers, allocations, shop around to other dealers and be aware of the pitfalls of ordering a new MY as soon as it comes out but more importantly just enjoy the car because dollar/pound of enjoyment there is little better out there.

My car is on Green Bay so my car could be at PEC-ATL by 12/13 but the earliest date I could get was 1/20. So it will be sitting at port until 1/18.

Do you think they leave the in port, or ship them to PEC Atlanta right away. I hope it is the latter.

Agree with everything you said. Just not a patient person sometimes. Ordered car (supposedly) in May and was led to believe a September delivery. I already acknowledged my part in the mess. I will get over it.Will be my third Porsche.First new one and I am sure I will love it.
Will have to use"restraint of tongue and pen" when dealer asks for a review and says the old line"We like to get all 10's.

my TTS took 4mos (from official order date - End of July) to get to Edmen Germany - then loaded and shipped to Davisville RI arriving December 3rd...unloaded and now sitting awaiting CARB approval - some cars have been sitting waiting for more than 8weeks

be sure to remind your dealer to do whatever needs doing for Track Your Dream (TYD) on MyPorsche.com to function for you - don’t expect miracles from it, but it’s better than calling the dealer for updates - I’d still call every now and then just to either verify TYD or see if the dealer knew more - typically they knew "about the same" as TYD...but there were times in the early stages that the build codes changed and TYD did not reflect it — it’s a good idea to temper your expectations....it just makes the disappointment less disappointing

The key is getting the allocation. That can be open ended, depending on the dealer and their order list. I got mine fairly rapidly, and it has only been eight weeks now, and my car is on the boat. Car was built in one week, and quickly shipped to Emden.

In a typical year, it comes down to your allocation build date. Figure if you’re in Northeast, if your car starts production on Monday next week, you’re car is shipped to Emden Friday. If the boat leaves the following week, it spends 2.5 weeks getting from Emden to Halifax, NS, then on to Davisville, RI. As long as emissions approvals are all done, car sits in port for 3-5 days, then shipped to dealer. Altogether, about 5 weeks from when it gets built. I ordered in June for a September allocation, started production on 9/11, arrived in Davisville first week of October.

Under normal circumstances what happens while it sits in port for 3-5 days. Do they have Porsche technicians that start. the PPI and then the dealer finishes it up or do they literally just sit there and then the dealer does all the prep work ? Thanks

You need to give a little more information.
If you were merely just promised an upcoming allocation in a dealer that might not generally have a lot of allocations then it could be a LONG wait to ppotentially not happening.
On the other extreme if you were offered an allocation that exists, have a commission number and a lock date then your car could be in your hands within 6-8 weeks from lock date

Do not mean to scare you but as ample board members will attest with demand being so high and allocations so few it can be difficult waters to navigate
