GT3RS Allocation Thread
#121
Alright folks, I'm out. I had a deposit down since 2019 at a dealer who wouldn't promise MSRP but claimed they would do below market for local customers (I'm local). I was #6 "on list". Through Covid they kept reiterating "MSRP or close to MSRP". Fast forward to early this year and they're telling me "with the GT4RS going for $100k over, we're expecting well over that for the GT3RS". I won't get into semantics of what GT4RS are actually going for (been offered several for well below $100k...). Decided to wait it out a bit, hell they've had my deposit this long. Spoke to them again after the reveal and they reiterated $100k-$200k over with no certainty of how they'll pick customers (hint: being #6 doesn't mean squat...guessing they'll bid them out and give the allocations in descending $ order). I don't want to waste another breath on these folks so I took my deposit back and will happily sit this madness out.
This same dealership wanted +10% for a Macan order last December when I was shopping around. I look forward to their call in a year when they're trying to move inventory because the good times are over (referring to non GT cars, we all know the GT cars will be sold out for infinity). I've done quite a bit of car shopping these past few years across different makes and dealers...I'll remember the good dealers forever and the bad dealers even longer.
Good luck gents.

We’re back to the ADM convo for millionth time… anyone have a build slot in US?
I’m number one in line, nothing yet.
also curious if anyone has heard anything regarding how they’ll make RS heritage package available? I want to order it.

We live in a wonderful time, we are at a peak in the exotic market as life cycle of ICE coming to an end. In the future we will all look back in awe and dream of this time, kinda like the muscle car era nostalgia. So many choices now and all are excellent, so get what you want. The power being made by cars these days is stupid, they are honestly pointless and can’t be used safely on the street, so must be track driven to enjoy. I enjoyed my 718 Spyder more than any other Porsche as it was fun at Road legal speeds. But RSs have been my track toys, and always will…assuming they keep making them, but the MSRP is getting a bit much for a toy to beat up these days!

This thread is about the GT3RS allocations, and unfortunately allocations and ADM go hand in hand so I don't see a problem with people discussing current ADM's for a car that will clearly have far more buyers than cars available. You have made it clear that you are 'first in line' so ADM's won't effect you. Lucky you! The rest of us poor blokes have to pray we get an allocation or succumb to paying an ADM to even be considered an allocation.

I would never even talk to that dealership. Prices are ridiculous. And with interest rates way up and stock market way down, buyers will be drying up.
Here is their sales staff - I wonder how many of them are car fanatics? Zero?

my goodness you have a fragile sensitivity..
if you want to talk ADM, there are thousands of other threads for your meaningless input.

I think the intent for this thread is to give a leading signal on when allocations are released. The reason I said I’m number one is bc I should hear early, and if I don’t, I want to investigate.

why?
because 98% of the commentary on RL is from spectators.
would be nice to glean some actual value by crowd sourcing it. But that would be too naive.

There are many dual Porsche and mclaren owners and we do share lap times with each other and do know which are the faster cars .
here’s a mclaren 675 stock with surface transform brakes and Goodyear 3R tires at COTA . 2:14 lap time (I know the owner of the car (he’s my friend) and this driver (he’s my coach in Bay Area )

OK, except his time was a claimed best sectors time - not a time that was achieved.
Anyhow, thats an aside, I'm hearing actual allocations will be released after the Silverstone reveal - of course this may be region dependant.
The other point to note is, around EU power woes, gas is up to about 88% reserve level but this is only good for 2 months peak demand, markets are off globally by between 25% and 15% with more to come plus headline inflation in Europe is just marginally below 10% with core at least 5%. The mistakes in the US were mirrored in Europe with the ECB printing money at a ridiculous rate through COVID. I do not see any significant improvement in the short term and it will take at least two years for the EU to sort out its gas problem through the use of LNG.
The economic factors and gas factor combine to create significant problems on the supply side for the car industry - so I wouldn't bank on any claimed delivery times. From my perspective, as somebody that lives and works between three countries, this is a problem.
