GT3RS Allocation Thread
#61
Decided to call a few dealers to figure out whats what. I called the dealer I bought my Taycan from. Now they are a smaller dealer in a smaller market. I got an honest answer - which was refreshing - if not what I wanted to hear.
Bottom line - they have 20 people on the list already but that hardly matters. They basically said that they would get 1 ... ever. And moreover, if I didn't spend 7 figures on Porsche cars, I had no hope (ok, they were nicer about it than just saying that but, well, thats the truth). Oh, 7 figures... a year!!
Now some other dealers get more allocation but many of them are only selling to local customers and others will take your name and, well, "get back to you." Ha ha.
None of them know their real allocation and I got the feeling they won't know until 2023 at the earliest.
Some will sell at MSRP - but I think thats more for those high dollar customers (ironically ... those who need it the least IMHO).
This is really insane. Seems to me what is happening is that those who buy that many cars are really 2nd hand dealers themselves. They buy for cheap (MSRP) and then flip. Probably put a few miles on but who cares - anything with low mileage in this market it doesn't matter.
While one dealer insinuated that Porsche doesn't build enough because, well, "if everyone had one there wouldn't be that much demand" or some such nonsense. Thats BS - this isn't a matter of mystique or whatever (Ferrari is good at that). I think its more about their production capacity and where they really make their money is the bread and butter cars and they just aren't going to put a lot of production into GT cars.

I was at a PCA dinner last night and asked the GM about their allocation status for the RS. He says he has none yet (of course) but expects them by the end of September. He didn't know for sure though. First one is going to the only 918 VIP guy who shops (mines) at my local dealership. We will see.

Anyone have any updates on when dealers will get allocation notifications? I’m second on the list at my local dealer. They are relatively young and a smaller dealer, but got 4 of the last gen 3RS. Hoping they get at least a couple of the 992!! Fingers crossed.
No ADM but I have several nice trades that they would like to have in their showroom so we can work a deal.

Only 50 992 GT3 RS coming to Australia impossible to get an allocation , same issue for the GT4 RS only 35 coming down under have had my name down with numerous dealers for close to 2 years now along with thousands of others who want one ...good luck to you guys as you get more cars allocated to your market I look forward to seeing them ..

I got an allocation guarantee. All they wanted was for me to give them my new GT3 and title for it. Such a reasonable ask IMO. I may just pay cash upfront for my RS and tell them to keep it. And to really help them stop their sniffling wire a surprise ADM so I feel so badly. They really take care of us. It's great.
